its amazing how well indexed this thread is on Google, about 3 or 4 people out of 150 - 200 applicants who got accepted to the next stage have found this.

Thumbs up

My son for some reason wants to follow in my footsteps and become an aircraft engineer. He has been invited by Virgin for an assessment/exam.
would anyone be able to give him a heads up on what he can expect, ie maths/physics exam, practical tests etc.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Have some patience it takes quite sometime for these sort of things to be processed occupy yourselves with something else or perhaps get a part time job untill you recieve the response from them it's no good to keep looking at the emails and posting in forums asking about it.

Hi, Please could you help me out?

Hi,

I am looking to join the Virgin Atlantic Apprenticeship and from reading this thread it looks like you may be able to assist me best.

Do you mind if I ask a few questions to get an idea of the sort of standard they accept,

What GCSE grades did your son have? Also did he have any extra relevant qualifications such as a national certificate in engineering?

Do you also know roughly how many applicants they take through to the second stage, which i believe is ability tests and/or interviews??

Again thank you so much for your info

Cheers,
Joe

I Applied last year but didn't get past the testing.
I dont look back in disappointment though. I wouldn't have got into the Airline im in now.

When I got through I had;

NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations (Lathe, hand work, building circuits and CAD)
National Diploma In Aerospace Engineering.
GCSE's graded A-C (D in Math)

The tests on the day were;
Math
English
Mechanical Reasoning
Psychometric.

They usually hold the English test last, and tell you, when you are done, you're free to leave. Don't leave until the time is up.

Me and a few others from my college left when we completed the last test, none of us got any response, so we think that its part of the weaning process, anyone who leaves, doesn't get any further. However, that's our opinion. We could, and most likely, have under performed on the tests compared to others.

My son went for the virgin assessment last year. After the tests he left as described and was invited back for the interview a few days later.
