So wotsaboutit
Whereas it may be perfectly understandable your indignation the guy keeps asking for inside knowledge when you guys tell him itīs not a good thing, you leave open the possibility of the rest of us inferring from your total dismissal that you are on the inside and donīt want any competition....??
Anyway, I too am curious about EK line stations and not being on the inside, I have no clue as to what the contents of what manual you should read to understand why itīs no good....perplexed and looking for enlightenment.

EK line stations, like any airline will be on local terms and conditions, good or bad who knows.
EK did set up a number of line stations, but have since closed a number of them too. So from an historical point you could say that it may not be as safe and secure as you may think, most of it is being outsourced.
I do know someone who works(ed) for EK at a line station, I believe the money was ok, but morale wasn't great and you have to watch your back.

EK outstations are about the same as most other majors airlines - pay is generally pretty good but all it takes is a management change of heart and the station could be closed and outsourced - so no different to any other airline job really.

Sorry Jingli , but you are wrong.
A real major will always have their own staff because they do care about them and in return , their staff will give the best of themselves ...
Outsourcing is just to save money !
In the case of this so called airline , they have a huge lack of staff at their base and they are trying to get outstations guys there , thats it.
When you can not make any more money , you have to reduce your costs ...
Everything with them is about money , do not forget it !

How am I wrong? - I dont know of any major airline in North America or Europe that only allows their own staff to work to work on their aircraft. Every airline outsources transits at some stations, EK is no different to anyone else.

EK
I knew the guy, who was responsible for outsourcing SYD. This decision was done without him. He had to lay off 14 really good chaps. As he got told to continue, he resigned, as he couldn't . As he left, the next one had to close his own station. So far to the "I can do it for 15% cheaper" rule.
England ? U R the next, as this guy interfered , he got investigated, as it was not his area.
EK, is a shiny company and there are good engineers, but you will never have safety. All people , which are pro employees will be sooner or later fail.
I know we will face a crisis in LAE's, in Safety, in Reliability of our loved Aircrafts, but I also know, that every manager, who starts to outsource failed his job.
just my 2 cents

I'm probably going to open a can of worms with this line of questioning, but, here goes.
Beside the issues already discussed here, I would like some factual opinion of other stuff that EK may or may not do well, such as, supporting your work output. That is, do they have adequate tooling, is the IT system useful, are the technician's competent, are there enough work stands, do you have transport to get from plane to plane, is there a free issue, how long does it take to get a part from store and etc. You get what I'm asking.
These are issues that can determine if you have a good day or not, that is, are you bogged down with so many inefficiencies that it makes it impossible to achieve anything and drives you to drink way too much just to calm down.
Be truthful please.

line stations closing
Does this mean that EK stopped hiring new LAE for now until they accommodate their own staff from the closing line stations? Have you seen any new outsiders (not from the line stations) coming to Dubai lately? Thx

Avionics grade 6 or 7.
any idea how much emirates enginer grade 6 0r 7 earn? do they have different salary scale for non european and european engineer?u mentioned about gcaa license, how about easa or faa license ?do they accept either of them ?any idea how long they take to clear? does EK help to achieve those? i gt an ofer for grade 6 ,basic 6580 and utility allowance 2350 and grade 7540 and utility 4350,,, is it sounds the same what EK engineer earns there? i was quite excited but I live in nz when i compare the value of money i was kinda shocked to see how much they are offering. but again i need some honest opinion about career advancement. I mean what are the chances that i go there and get FAA or EASA and look for better opportunities?
