There are however many grey areas, if you look at Chapter 33 in the Syllabus you'll notice that it's Level 3 for B2. B1 isn't listed for that Chapter, yet not many line B1's who won't change a lamp.
From the UK CAA's ELGD (Engineers Licence Guidance Document)
This would suggest that Chapter 33 is indeed covered if a "simple" test can be actioned without the use of test equipment.
What do your quality department say a B1 can cover?
From the UK CAA's ELGD (Engineers Licence Guidance Document)
The B1 licence is a mechanical based licence and
permits the holder to issue certificates of release to
service following line maintenance, including aircraft
structure, power plants and mechanical and electrical
systems. Replacement of avionic line replaceable units
requiring simple tests without the use of test equipment
to prove their serviceability is also included within the
privileges of this licence. A Category B1 licence holder
also has a role in base maintenance in supporting the
Category C certifier who is the final CRS/SMI signatory.

Thanks but I believe I did not state it clearly.
My company wants me to show to them that B1 engineers can cover electrical tasks (removal of limitation 8).
Where can I find this and the ATA chapters that B1 can cover.

Confusing as hell ain't it Spanners!
Can't help you with that one CY333, even the regulators will struggle to give you a definitive answer for related Chapters.
B1 "Limitation 8" leaves it wide open. Would Engine indication systems be included as the engine is a mechanical system??? Who fuggin knows???

Confusing as hell it certainly is. When I finally got my original BCAR Section L licence converted to an EASA Part 66 licence I thought all my problems were behind me. Now I’ve got Categories A, B1 and C but I don’t fully understand what my privileges are for my B1. I’ve read the ELGD from cover-to-cover a number of times but it only refers to categories B1.1, B1.2 and B1.3 together with a reference to a “…full B1”. So if anyone can enlighten me, together with references, I’d be very grateful.
