Question Converting from Mil to Civil Quals?

Hello Ladies and Gents.

First of hello as I am a newbie.

A couple of questions.

1. I am currently serving in the Army and am nearly finished on my Avionic Artificer course (Bsc in Electronic Systems Engineering from Kingston Uni), and I am trying to look at what would need to be done to obtain a civil license to work both in the UK and abroad.

2. I am interested in working in Dubai, who is good to search for jobs with, work with etc? What sort of additional licenses would be required and where could I find information.

Many thanks.

As Nut Loose has said, read then return. Does your uni course include the CAA modules? If it didn't, the degree really means nothing towards licensed maintenance..

Thumbs down Dubai?

Think about it before going to dubai, you will have to do a GCAA License to do any thing there and its a real ball ache! EASA License CANNOT be used there!!

Have a look at Lufthansa Resource Technical Training (LRTT) they do self study modules for military personnel.

I have done a few modules there myself and while I believe the syllabus is far too narrow it meets the requirements and therefore will get you a licence.

I have no complaints about them and believe the costs are reasonable especially when compared with the likes of Eurocopter type training at GBP 600+ a day!!!!!!
