why don't you explain exactly what happened so people can have a right good laugh, and then forward some constructive advice.

I would hang, drawn and quarter such a man, a heinous crime against aircraft engineering professionism..

I once knew a mechanic who wasn't profesional at all. He use to go around saying..."When I was in Oman.."

We all know that it goes on aviation.master. Even at the highest levels.

It really is up to the individual to decide if he/she is fully competent to hold that licence, rating or approval(s). There are some clever bastards out there passing exams, assuming that for the issue of an AML, the passing of exams and writing nice essays is all that is required. Not so.

Most if not all EASA NAAs will simply issue a licence if all documentation is in order & fees are paid promptly. This certainly applies to our UKCAA, especially with fee payment £££. This practice has allowed some frankly innappropriate personnel to hold AMLs. One way of preventing a full time totally irresponsible prat from holding a licence is for the respective QA dept refusing to sign the EASA Form 19 (Part 66 AML) application form.

So, if you are in a position to advise this individual, tell him/her to earn
the priveliges of an LAE with full practical experience, learning an aircraft correctly on a course or in the hangar/on the line with no bloody shortcuts (cheating) or non AMM compliant fixes. There can be
devastating consequences for not performing maintenance correctly on aircraft.

There is no race to undertake gaining all modules (honestly) and satisfying all experience requirements (honestly, with NO embellishment). The minimum times set by EASA or any NAA to acheive all that is required for any AML issue is exactly that, MINIMUM.

Anyone wishing to be a safe licenced aircraft maintenance engineer should pour every effort into developing as a competent, confident technician in your field of expertise firstly, before ever gaining those full levels of responsibility.

Enjoy your career, join or make a good team, work hard & never stop learning.
