Gas Couple:
As in a PT6: prop is driven by Gas couple,( Gas generator) Hot expanding gas through a stator system & power turbine.
QUESTION:
Would this still work if the distance between the gas generator and the turbine was "Greater". IE exhaust system is somewhat "longer".

Hello hogg,
Sure it can work if the section between the CT turbine and the power static vane ring stays convergent. but a greater distance means longer exhaust and gas generator cases so an heavier engine and further a higher fuel consumption for the A/C. the first target for an A/c engine maker is to designe the lightest engine he can witch produces the requested power.
