Seat belt repairs
Can anyone tell me what the legalities are in the UK regarding having a damaged seat belt repaired?
As I understand it seats & belts fall under the group of items which a pilot is able to repair/maintain himself, without the need for a lisenced engineer.
Can anyone clarify?
(I've just been quoted $499 for a replacement belt, when I know I can get it repaired for £50.00!)

In Canada, there are AMO's which specialize in Aircraft Interiors that have approval to repair seatbelts. The repair is basicly the replacement of the webbing and comes with certs. As you can imagine, the cost is far lower than replacing with OEM belts.

You can get the belt repaired or rewebbed by an approved company, I will have a look and post you the address and contact details for a company in the UK a bit later on.
You will need the make of the belt in question etc when you talk to them, it is a LOT cheaper than a new item and I get ours done all the time, they even reweb and repair the inertia type harnesses as well.
