getting into maintenace
hi,
i currently work for airbus where i did my carft apprenticeship. i now want to get into maintenace. i understand about the course that i need to do ie the part 66 course b1. i also understand that i need to gain maintenance experience. I am having trouble gettin MRO contact information for either Liverpool or Manchester. Does anybody have any contact info for me at all? cheers in advance.

Hi Andy,
Don't be so impatient! People on here often have something else to do as well.
You say you can't find any info for MRO's? - Have you tried Googling? or even Ask.com?
If you are already in the Aviation industry you should know some MRO names to go for? But even putting in Aircraft Maintenance at Manchester may get you further.
Look harder.

Companies i know of that have hangers on the maintenance area are:
Northern Executive Aviation
Monarch
SR Technics
My Travel
apart from that its generally line maintenance carried out at manch either by in house maintenance teams or contracted out to companies such as storm.
I wouldnt concerntrate on just manchester Airport. You say you work for Airbus, Broughton or Filton site??? If your on the Broughton site try Raytheon down the far end of the field.
Also try other companies such as Eastern Airways in Humberside as they do all their own in house maintenance, Flybe down in Exeter, Storm aviation, you could maybe go contracting to gain experience

SRTechnics no longer do any hangar maintenance at MAN. While Hangar one still retains their logo they have no claim to it and the whole hangar is now the MyTravel facility (as opposed to half of it originally)

Couldn't resist
From memory about 50% of those employed at Liverpool, in a maintenance capacity, actually work!
Sorry but I couldn't resist getting that in.
If you are a craft apprentice and are any good at sheet metal work, you might want to try going on the circuit as a contractor before you decide where you want to go and what you want to do. Getting your B1 is not easy and I know a few people who have bailed out once they've seen what was involved.
Just a thought for you to consider.

www.Aviationjobsearch.com is a good place to start and you can register for emails in your chosen trade. Good luck.

Hi Andyastra
I would lean more towards SRtechnics and Monarch. They both have a strong history of 3rd party a/c maintenance. Mytravel is an airline, not an engineering company per se.
Good Luck!
