The website is one of the msn communities.
Full address is
<communities.msn.com/flsaerospace
I just tried it with http://www. in front and it didn't work.
If you cant get in that way, go to the msn home page and click on <communities> The FLS site is listed under <companies>
You have to have a Hotmail address to contribute to the discussions but you don't need anything to read the stuff in there.
Good luck see you there I hope.

Another sad demise here is the canteen. NO longer financially viable at the weekends.
Thought that what the whole subsidy thing was about dont blame us for getting fed up and hungry on 12 hr shifts...
Try and get the morale up, Then stamp on us again...

I'd look into the legalities of closing the canteen if I were you (and it bothers you enuf).
The company have to supply a canteen if there is so many bodies @ work (don't know the figure).

So that you may not be the martyred slaves of Time,
get drunk, get drunk,
and never pause for rest!
With wine, poetry, or virtue,
as you choose!"

Just heard the same thing meself. They think it may be shut by XMAS the way talk is going. Understandably the Management need to cut costs to try and save the company. To do this ,as everyone knows, you have to lean down departments where possible.Departments that are way too big:--for instance personnel springs to mind. Twice as many staff as the MT section!!! However FLS appear to be binning the MT in its entirety where in fact they should be increasing it in size. It has always been understaffed and the ground equipment in a poor state because of this.
What the bloody hell are they doing! It would seem that personnel is the only fireproof department in FLS. Bit odd really as it has the poorest performance/reputation.

If its true they will close it by xmas it shows how insensitive FLS managment really are. Ruining 3 families Xmas' to save the company approx £45000/year. I'm sure that amount will keep the wolves from the door!!!
Come on FFCat lets have your opinion on this.

Boys
FFCat has withdrawn from submitting items for us to read.
He is still at FLS Stn, working in his office. Found out that he is supposedly being very proactive for his department.
He took off when a couple of us rumbled his identity, sorry FFCat we've known who you are for some time.
Keep on biking.

Depends on how you view the person involved.
If he was respected at work, then not proud of rumbling him.
But as he spent lots of time viewing BIG BROTHER and chatting on chat lines/houses during works time whilst we lose work, which he should be bringing in, then yep.
There are other reasons but not to be aired to publicly.

Sorry to hear about Manchester M.T.. Stessful as it is, getting the boot from fls is probably a good move in the long run. Having been through the 'FLS experience' myself recently I can honestly say that life does get better once you leave!
Also if the state of the FLS van that I used to drive was typical of the companies fleet, then it looks like the MT is as poorly funded and managed as the rest of the company. I used to be embarrased when I took the van home and recieved comments from my neighbours such as 'I hope you look after your aircraft better than your van!'.
So look on the bright side mt boys. A career at FLS should only be viewed in the short term anyway (as it usually is). Remember to choose your employer with a bit more care next time and you will do OK.

Hi Lamptramp. I suggest you look at a previous thread entitled "FLS time to go". YOU will find it by clicking on the button at the top saying "show topics from last 30 days". Personally I would advise you not to go because the future of the company (financially) is looking extremely dodgy. The parent company are pulling out all funding so FLS aerospace have to stand on their own as of the end of November. Seeing as they haven't made a profit for the last 8 years things don't look over rosey!! Also ,if you are an engineer, you will not be treated like the Queen of Sheba -more like Baldrick out of Blackadder!!!!

Yet again the FLS manangement try to solve there financial problems caused by there own inefficiency by getting rid of one of the smallest lowest paid departments. MT is probably one of the most important departments outside engineering.
The answer to the problem is easy. Employ more engineers, and a few necessary support staff (planner, tech services and MT! and perhaps a storeman), Then fix aircraft on time and on spec, which the engineers can do no problem, then the customer should be happy and pay for it.
They do not need formula 1 and its olympic stadium, blackbelt librarians and 3 grades of production planning, dock controlling data inputters.
