Fire at AIRBUS Broughton causes job cuts
Evening PPRUNE,
There was an internal fire at AIRBUS Broughton a few weeks backs which led to a number of job cuts, im not sure if it happened in the East factory or West, AIRBUS where pritty miffed off at this event so they cut some of there contract workers whom maintain the machiniary, one of them was my cousin who had only started a few days earlier, so he was first to go, like the saying goes first in first out. He is now on the team at Rolls Royce in Derby.
Can anybody elaberate on this, was there any machiniary damaged?Could this event be linked o AIRBUS thretening to pull production from Broughton?

Yes there was a fire at Broughton but not at Airbus or BaE.It was over a month ago.No one was laid off,in fact extra temp people have been taken on until all new machinery is in place.
So basically it was a no event and has not in anyway affected production of wings.So there is no need to knock Airbus or spread rumours of production being pulled from Broughton.

This is not a shoe factory that can be relocated in a couple of weeks.
The wing jigs for the A380 cost over £30 Million each; the reienforced concrete in which they stand has to set for six months and its another 12 months at least to build them.
The design and build of Airbus wings at Filton and Chester (Broughton) is truly best in class.Odd glitches don't change the strategic direction of a company like Airbus.
