Interceptor,

I'll do just that, but better ensure your health insurance is paid up.

As a relatively new contributor, I've just taken a look back through all pages in this thread.

Radnav I like your logic. Good lad.

Many sons of what you nitwits call 89ers (no brainers rhymes well) are currently employed in AN and QF, and indeed some sons of QF 89ers are in AN and vv, and someone correctly stated, young Wal is here and old Wal is at VB.

The pay, and the illogical assertion that Abeles and Hawke reqarded the scabs deserves comment.

The basis for formulating pay scales was this. The AFAP demanded a 29.??% pay increase with no tradeoffs to restore parity. The accord was in existence and Hawke said that the country couldn't have a bunch of renegade elitist employees operating outside the system, so a way needed to be found to give the pay rise.

The company figure was 30 hours pm, the AFAP figure was 40 pm per pilot. The company saw advantage in using the AFAP figure of 40, so increased it by 30% which gave a monthly contract of 53 hours, which was then rounded to 55. A corresponding figure was added to base pay, and a new contract amount was struck. It's as simple as that.

Nobody, the company or the pilots ever believed that pilots could ever be rostered to fly, and actually fly, more than 55 hours per month, and indeed they couldn't under the restrictive work practices that existed at the time. Nobody believed that they would ever do any better than base pay.

Interestingly, the hourly rate for an A320 Capt is now about $50 per hour LESS than it was pre 89. And don't forget you guys who are in HK and Dubai, we pay BIG tax here, so we're no better off financially at the end of the day. No rental assistance or housing either.

With the new contract, all that went out the window, and pilots were rostered to fly, and actually flew, 80 - 90 hours per month. That's how the bulk dollars were earned, not by being given favours by the PM or Abeles.

Incidentally, the pays are still significantly less than many companies where the no brainers went to work.

I support whoever said that AN pilots will apply for, and secure, jobs overseas in the midst of the no brainers, and your reward for standing firm against the global terror of scab labour will be summary dismissal. You see, industrial systems, or the lack of them, can work for and against you. You must remember that.

The thought of sitting down the back while some of these testostrone driven egos that have posted here are driving scares the **** out of me, and probably anyone else that reads these pages.

I didn't apply during 89, no regrets.

I can sympathise with some of the S@#$s, whilst not agreeing with their decision. To those that stayed out, let the s@#$s live with their choices , but don't use PPrune and any other venue to denigrate the professionalism of carreer pilots.

Both sides grow up, and get the implied threats of punch ups out of here.

LOL at captainschlonger

It's opbvious that I'm not dealing with any brain surgeons here.
t's similarly oPbvious that YOU also fall far short of the academic requirements that were brushed aside during the recruiting drive of late '89.

Allow Me to narrow MY identity down as well...87 kgs, 2nd dan karate (in dojos where full contact sparring was practised - barbells don't move, defend or attack!), and a firm believer that those of you who made the moral decision forcing you to "take your own job back, and stay in Oz" might need to renew your vows now that tough times are here for you.

Nonetheless come on over schlonger, the panel won't be the only ones wanting to interview you! :D

Marauder,

Your name isn't consistent with your views!

But, I agree. I've never thrown one unless some nit wit goes first, but I reserve the right to defend myself, and will do so.

Maybe if there were a few testosterone driven types up front a couple of weeks ago in the US things just may have been different. There's currently an email doing the rounds from a US Capt advocating using the PA to incite the pax to kill anybody who suggests hijacking an aircraft. Heavy **** , but if it works, then he's a hero.

Kaptin M,

What is t's? Seems we're all capable of a typo occasionally.

Must be the callouses on your hands preventing you reaching the keys. I can only speculate on how you became so calloused.

Thank you for being so concerned about the state of my health insurance but it certainly is up to date. May I suggest that you consider reviewing your own (particularly the bit about mental state of health exclusions)
Seriously now, cool down, we are your friends overseas as you acknowledge as having in your posts. So why the threats of violence to your friends ? Do let everyone know about your arrival as bookings on phonebooth venues need to be made in advance for welcome parties. A financially successful morally decent non queue jumping skilled aviator such as yourself should be honoured for his contributions to the industry. We are also very pleased that your 1.1 million of incentive was not enough to convince you to retire as it would be a sad day in the industry to lose someone of your calibre.

OK gentlemen, a very interesting thread indeed.

Now that you have sorted that out between you the testosteronometer has gone into red scale, this threads getting a bit long and will be closed.

Feel free to continue, but offers of violence from or to either side will not be tolerated. Invitations to a drinks party is much more appropriate. :D

BTW I go over 118kg, benchpress 95kg and squat 99kg, am a grand master of Origami, but I've got the mouse buttons under control.
