CPL Theory exam or ATPL after PPL?

I have just attained my PPL from Australia . I was wondering if, for my next theory exam,I should sit for the CPL thoery exam or will it be wiser to attempt the ATPL straight away.

I would also like to request for some information on the ATPL exam in Australia:
-When can I give the exam?
-Do I need to schedule it in advance and if yes, how much in advance?
-What's the cost?
-How many subject and if each subject has individual exam like CPL or is it combined?
-Is it a Computer exam or written?
-What and where can I buy the study material from?
-Is it possible to do it through self study?

Wing Root:

I understood one could sit the ATPL's with CPL theory. But to obtain an ATPL they must have a CPL and 1500 hours flying.

That form is a checklist for getting your ATPL’s after you have flown more than 1500 hours.

I don't think it applies to actually sitting the theory subjects.

Could be wrong.........
