SAFESKIESABOVE
I did my CIR at Johnston Aviation at Port Macquarie. Already had my IREX but I know they also do theory courses.
Very reasonable prices, includes accommodation and a lot of fun. Good instructors - had to be with me as a student.
Have a look at the website for more information.

I would strongly recommend Geelong Flight Centre they offer professional training at a compeditive rate. Check out their web site http://www.geelongflightcentre.com.au
Have you tried the Chris Markham or Chris Henry course books?
There are a handful of good IFR Instructors in your part of the world. Shop around. If as you say you fly for a living then it can be tax deductible, so don' t pinch pennies. A failed flight test wipes out most of the cost difference between different schools.
Good luck.

Ad Astral is the place to be. I used to teach CIR stuff at JT and ther is no way I'd go there. McGilla has been around for a long while and I've done several renewals there. Professional is the phrase that springs to mind.
They also do theory but I have no experience with that side of their operation

Peter Bini's - 03 9580 5295
Peter Bini's at MB. Not sure about theory with them but have NEVER heard a bad word about them and did my Instrument Rating there about a year ago. Did the training with Peter Bishop and the flight test with Steve Pearce. Very Professional outfit. I called up with about two weeks notice that I needed to do my rating but could only get about 10 or so days off work. Within the day they had faxed me an itinerary of what days we would be flying and the type of flying that would be covered that day. Every other school that I called basically just said "yeah, no problems just come in when you are up here". They didnt seem to understand that that wasnt an option as work was limiting my time frame.
Nothing was too much and the training was excellent, aircraft well kept, will talk things over until you understand them, not until they've had enough, oh and professional to boot!
If you want anymore info' you can email me and I'd be happy to talk.

edited for the usual spelling stuff

If you can swing it, get to Melbourne and fly with Steve Pearce. I did the overwhelming majority of my PPL with Steve many years ago, as well as my first multi endorsement. It was a pleasure to have the art and science of flight taught to me by such a gifted teacher.
Good luck with choosing an instructor.
Kindest Regards '

Ad Astral. They are fantastic. Very efficient and get it done quickly and more importantly accurately. I loved it. It was by far the best flying I've done in a long time. They have a web site. look them up and give them an email. you won't regret it.

Definately have to get down to PBAFT if you can,Steve specialises in this stuff and has instructors who actually operate in the real world!I believe that Lionel Taylor is still doing the subjects down there and has a very high success rate, you should be able to co-ordinate it all together and do it all in a reasonable time frame! There might be accommodation available, not sure on that one though.
PS try and get KP out of retirement or TM to do your training, you will never look back!

Couldn't agree more about Johnston Aviation Services. I actually went from Perth to do the course and had it done in just over three weeks.
Have a look at my other post from around a month ago on the same subject.
