and life goes on

I would agree. Some of these people seem quiet vicious, in relation to their posts....have the confident presumption, of knowing that they could have 'done a better job'.
Capt Claret...your assumption is exactly what these people think.
Why don't we just say, 'well no one was harmed, he did what he knew best then, and thank god it was that and nothing more.
I bet, it's more the guys who have responded most to this post, and funny to say, but reading back on some of these remarks, they sound worse than mothers in a p&c meeting...or better more, a bunch of housewives bitchin' in the kichen

Hi Mud Skipper.
As I understand it the disciplinary action related to the delayed reporting of the incident rather that it's committal?
I'm sure you'll advise me if I'm incorrect.

Virgin Blue in the poo!!!
I've watched for a while, and now registered. I don't expect that will set the world on fire, but I feel comment is warranted.
There's an old saying in aviation circles - there are those who have and those who will.
It may have been said above for I didn't read all contributions, and if so I apologize, but let's not talk about others who f... up. It's human nature, and we all have the potential to do so.
If we must pass comment, let it be along the lines of '**** I'm glad that wasn't me!'

I hear what you sayAmos2, but I think you may be just a little self righteous.
When you retire, will you honestly (that's HONESTLY!!) be able to say to yourself (or could you honestly say it now?) that you didn't seriously screw up at some time in your career.
The point I asm making is that we all do it, regardless of SOPs etc. Ever had to do a landing, real IFR etc, aftyer about ten hours BOC, and seriously wondered about your fitness to be where you are, and slipping up, recovered, and laterthought how lucky you were?
I'm not a religious type, but something from the Bible does say, 'he who is without sin, throw the first stone', or something similar.
Let's try to leave our judgments outside when we come here, and just think ourselves lucky that someone else isn't tipping a bucket on us for screwing up in a big way.

I find it quite amusing that QF bashing is considered "fair game" by some of the posters on this forum and take no prisoners when it comes to slipping the boot in to QF for ANY incident.
However, when a fairly serious incident involving their "protected species" aka Virgin gets aired, they all want to shoot the messenger?
No doubt next time QF is mentioned they will all slip the boot in once again.
Note also that I am not commenting on the actual incident. It can and does happen.
It does our game no good a all to carry on like vultures whenever an incident occurs and vent our spleens in the name of airline pride.
The old "tongue in cheek" digs between AN and TN/QF were quite amusing but girls, put the claws away!
Do we need to be so vitriolic?
Double standards?
Tall poppy syndrome?
Surely not!
