VH-UGL Stolen!!
C152 UGL was stolen from Parafield today, took off from the apron and then crashed on a main road. Pilot (if you could call him that) is ok. I suppose the residents will be kicking up a stink about closing Parafield. Any comments people?

A light plane has crash-landed on a road in Adelaide's northern suburbs.
A police spokesman said the plane crashed onto Montague Rd, Pooraka, about 4.30pm (CST), stopping traffic.
The spokesman said the lone male occupant of the plane had suffered injuries but they were not life threatening.
No one else was hurt in the incident.

The Cessna belongs to Tony Powell - Head of the BAe Training Centre. He didnt make any comment on the news.
The police said the driver didnt have a clue about taking off - the plane was all over the place. He could have been heading for the Santos building - who knows! I'm sure more news will come to light soon.

Crash pilot stole plane
Adelaide police will interview a 26-year-old man who crashed a stolen aircraft on a road at Pooraka in the northern suburbs during the evening peak hour.
The Cessna 150 was taken from the apron at Parafield Airport, but had not flown far before it clipped a pole and crashed into another one on Montague Road.
The plane came to rest metres away from houses and peak-hour traffic.
One of the first to the accident scene was Joe Amadio, who has a pilot's licence.
"The pilot was still inside the aircraft, the plane was leaking a lot of fuel and I did my best from what I know to immobilise the aircraft by turning off the fuel, all the electrics and pulling out the pilot."

Southland the 150 from Lilydale landed in a paddock near Euroa just east of the Hume highway police were on the scene resonably quickly but the pilot was gone so it appeared to be well planned the feeling at the time was it was someone with a beef with DCA but it was a long time ago cheers QNIM

this sort of thing happened back in feb 1970 when cessna zk-cgi was stolen from taieri aero club near dunedin.the aircraft went missing during the early hors of the morning but despite a wide spread search was never found and all hope was abandoned.eighteen months later robert buckhuis walked into the dunedin police station and told an interesting tale. he had under severe personal pressure faked his death and ran away to oz to try to sort himself out.he led police to lake duncan deep in the murchison mountains of fiordland west of te anau.there sitting on the lake bottom 18 metres underwater and in remarkably good condition,was the missing cessna.despite only a few hours flying experence,the pilot had sucessfully ditched it without injury and walked out to civilisation and a trip to austrailia .he was treated leniently by the courts and zk-cgi was lifted out of its watery grave by a hiller flown by bill black, overhauled and returned to the air -and is still flying today, around the wellington area i think...a remarkable story from the past

Many years ago in north west WA, on a Friday night a man, who had experience as a helicopter passenger, broke into a bank and filled a suitcase with money. For his first ever flight, he chose to steal a Hughes at night for his getaway. Having watched pilots start the Hughes, he had no problem doing that and managed to take off, cross the highway and crash. With his broken leg, he crawled back to the highway with his suitcase of money and thumbed a lift. The first car along was the police. They took him to the nearest hospital where he said he was the victim of a hit and run. Saturday morning with his new crutches, he signed himself out of the hospital and continued hitching to Perth. Monday morning the bank discovered the empty vault and called the police. After a while they twigged on that they had given the bank robber a lift which left two red faced police in town. I believe the would be helicopter pilot was picked up in Perth.

Seems to be a regular event these days, My ol grasshopper (well not mine but I was flying it for the company) a C337 was stolen from Kalgoorlie not so long ago and crashed down near lake king, then there was the couple of young fella's that stole the C310 from Kalgoorlie and crashed it down south somewhere a few years ago......Oh and then there was a bloke I knew for a short time who was hanging out with the wrong people and was, after a paint sniffing marathon, killed, in the process of stealing an aircraft from Kalgoorlie as well.
Kalgoorlie isnt that bad that one has to steal an aircraft to escape the place.....Really!.

Vale old UGLY!!!!!!
I did my first solo in that machine in the early 90's at Coolangatta. It was a dear old machine back then it was owned by Challenge Aviation who later sold it to some chap in adelaide.
It was a great machine for learning to land as had the "G" Meter being an Aerobat, and would owe my old instructors (S.L.& A.L.) a six pack if went over 2.5G's!!...of course just accumulated and put a rather large BBQ on instead.
I still remember the good old days ringing up the tower and saying "Will be out in 10 minutes in UGLY to do an hour of circuits"!!

and another one involving Alice Springs....
Last year a deranged soul stole the Alice Aero Clubs PA-28 prior to first light, and speedily mangled himself about one kilometre from the runway.
His intention was to "visit God". He had completed a couple of T.I.Fs, and was refused more lessons due poor mental health.

Fair bloody dinkum. You'd reckon that someone capable of getting this little bugsmasher off the ground could put it in a better place than on the road!! I would have suggested landing it in the middle of Port Power's football ground. Adelaide's a great place but, they are playing a little too well for mine at the moment.
