Mac was a gentleman, may he RIP, but he used to 'push the outside of the envelope' too....in fact he used to kick the $hit outa it!...it is a tribute to his skill that he wasn't killed years before he was.
The way he died by wacking into a hill in IMC following the GPS to a misidentified waypoint did not do his skills justice...if dieing in any way does
He flew choppers for a while for Mal in GKA...Jetrangers...he once told me about going inadvertently IMC near Mt Yule...he decided the only thing for it was to climb out on a 'safe' heading...typical stiff wing concept...he got visual at some rediculous altitude after climbing out on the turn and bank...the speed range he had at that alt, between plummetting because he couldn't hover OGE and plummetting because of retreating blade stall, was about as long as the pubic hair on a Bee's whatsits.
The wide grin under the 'coke bottle' glasses was his tradmark
Edit: And he wasn't bragging...it was a quiet reflective moment over a million beers that evening. Mac didn't have many quiet reflective moments...

Click on Smilies and enjoy.
To add in here just select the url in the little box under your fave one and copy and paste to here or wherever.
It already has the [ img]..[ /img] bit attached.

Chuckles ; Your epitaph if I may call it that, to the late Mack Lee was well said. I reread my previous posting and I realise now that it may have appeared critical of him. Please rest assured that was not my intention whatsoever! I never really got to know him unfortunately and I regret that.

Well, well, all of this just so's Chuck could give me "the finger", imagine that! Guess a bloke should feel honoured!
So... where are the next lot of photos coming from then eh? I've got the start of a collection from Plugga but decided not to post them yet as he said that more would follow... <hint> <hint> If anyone else has photos, especially of the "goat track" variety, don't be shy - let us see them!

Mark,
To answer your Question, Simon is not working for Zimex but another similar contract operator from another European Country, Holland I think...... He is now based in Cameroon.
Hope this is what you wanted to know.......

A Measure of Success?
I was just doing some housekeeping on my FotoTime photo site and was surprised by some truly staggering statistics. Bearing in mind that I've had this facility for only about 12 months, I find the following stats to be truly amazing...
Total views (all albums) : 8357
Significant among this number are the "hits" on various albums, all of which were the result of this thread ... well, parts 1, 2 and 3 were mostly responsible, but I'll let the numbers speak for themselves...
Airstrips in PNG : 296
Album bilong lurch : 453
Alistair's Album : 409
Herc Jerk's Album : 288
My Early Years in PNG : 1350 (total only applies to the sub-parts of the album that are on public display)
CHIMBU CHUCK : 993
Eggman's Album : 78
Eggman's Extra Album : 43
OZBASH 2002 : 1353 (okay, so this one was on the Bashes forum)
Pinky's Album : 128
Taildragger's Gallery : 664
Torres' Gallery : 310
GPS NPA PROJECT : 72
PPRuNe : 276 (this one also on the Bashes forum)
All of the above albums have recorded hits even within the last week, so some folks are still finding the URLs worthwhile. I am, naturally, delighted by these stats and it's clear this this thread, in all its parts, has helped many people to learn something about the nature of aviation in PNG.
I guess that means there's a clear need to continue this thread a bit longer eh?

Here we go again...
Okay blokes and blokesses (gotta be "PC" these daze, so I've been told... ), it's time again to:
Name That Goat Track!!
I got a few more photos from Pinky but decided not to put them in his gallery just yet. Instead, I've hidden them in an album that is not open to public display. The reason for all this secrecy is that I've used a couple of the photos to get the competition started again.
As before, the winner gets the commisserations of everyone else, for having led such an unsheltered life! So, put yer thinking caps on and put names to these goat tracks...
Nr 1
Nr 2
Good luck!
... Oh yeah! And I've noticed that some folks are still checking out a few of the previously published albums. There's been hits on several of them as recently as yesterday and today! Good to see!
