Yes, Rasch is still in PNG, now flying Dash-8 for APNG, as is John Thomas who is also in that photo. Tony Skelton now flies a Dash-8 for Fubilan (aka APA, aka NJS), based in Tabubil.

I got another "rogues gallery" photo from that "larger-than-life" Chuck. This is the aftermath of the p!ssup in PI and there are PLENTY of REAL rogues in evidence!

Edwards' marathon 'Bucks Party'

And now it's time to "Guess The Goat Track"

I've just received a HUGE collection of photos from eggman and will post the URL shortly. But, just to kick things off, I've extracted a few for the "competition"! So, get yer thinking caps on and name these goat tracks... but, just a word of caution - all these photos were taken in 1980 or earlier, so some might not exist now and will, therefore, only be known to the likes of Veg and, maybe OAH. Some of the others may look a bit different these days!

Goat track 01

Goat track 02

Goat track 03

Goat track 04

Goat track 05

Goat track 06

Goat track 07

Goat track 08

Goat track 09

Goat track 10

Now, in case any of you are worried, this group represents a mere 10% of eggman's collection!

Mate that wasn't the aftermath...that was early on night 3 or 4. Each of the 7 to 9 days, depending on what day you arrived, went like this.

Awake about 12 noon, turf tart.

Meet the lads about 1300, go out and about for shopping/whatever, eat maybe.

Meet up with the new arrivals and others about 1600 and have a few beers.

$hit, shower and shave about 1900.

Meet at Wantok Bar about 2000...more beers

Leave Wantok about 2300

Stagger across road to Lollipop Bar....many different drinks...some came in little baby bottles....some in shot glasses....don't ask just drink....till 0100.

Stagger up the road to Tahitian Queen...drink whatever comes to hand until kicked out at about 0530...while watching Ron do magic tricks....he could have any women in the place after turning a 5 US note into a 100 US note...working in short sleeves with girls, and us, crowding in around him...clever bloke.

Meander back to pub with new 'friend' about 0600...Ground Hog Day!!!

Then at the 'real' bucks night in Manilla things got really out of hand, seem to remember Danbo spewing all over the lobby of the Hotel...just after dawn.... not to mention after the wedding...seem to remember a CX hostie having the lift door close on her head....after arriving back at the hotel at 1100 the day following the Reception, while screaching something unintelligible at Bones

Now to more serious business....I recognise just about every strip...putting a name to them all is an entirely different matter

1/. Kicking myself.
2/. Aro ?
3/. Margarima Western Highlands ?
4/. Safia ?
5/. kicking myself
6/. Koumiao...west of Kikori just before the Bamu?
7/. Porgera (the original strip)
8/. Sim (definitely)
9/. Kicking myself
10/. Yongai ?

Well............B U G G E R

Humble apologies for my misleading information Chuck - I should've read your e-mail more carefully. Must learn never to post straight after a shagging... Still, if I'd posted straight off your e-mail, we wouldn't have had that exquisite run-down on the events of each day.

I noticed worrying similarities between that agenda and the Ozbash... you'd have felt right at home mate!

Okay, now then... yes, Nr 8 is Sim. You will definitely be kicking yourself over Nrs 5 and 9. One of the others you mentioned is correct, but I'm holding off on it until we get a few more guys making their guesses.

There's 3 places that may only be recalled by the likes of Veg and OAH, unless they've had name changes in more recent times. I confess that two of them are names I have never heard of and I didn't have any time to check their location with eggman, to work out if they have other names now.

The other "old time" type place is one that I know from having flown past a few times. I'm pretty sure that it was already closed in 1984, when I first saw it.

Reckon we need to hear from blokes like Alistair, lurch, Pinky, Plugga and Windy - among others! C'mon guys, you'll know at least a few of these!

You can all enter this competition as often as you like!

Okay, let's identify all the obvious "suspects"... Mudguard, Milesy, Chuck, Skelton, Thieley and Feeney. Speaking of Muddy, ran into him at Cairns Aero Club Friday arvo, holding court with a few APNG and Regionalair tour guys. Could've been a baaaad night but I had plans for an even badder one...

Unhappy

My mind has been rooned from 3 decades of bad living, but if Chuck means #7 is Porgera after it had been closed I might go along with it specially if that is looking towards that damn tiger Strickland country.
Gavin Dennis a Qantas cadet sadly lost his life very near there in a Tal 206 .We had celerbrated his 21st birthday just week(s) before.
RIP Gavin.
The others I wouldnt have a clue they look like god botherin strips to me except for Wonera which is picked once again by the Wonera expert Feather.

BTW Porgera had the remains of a RAAF Caribou sitting down the bottom end being used as a boi haus.
It pranged and think Reg sped in and salvaged the engines for the MAL 'Bou.

F3 ... ya got it in one mate! Nr 9 is Wonenara. I felt sure that you'd know that one! And now Chuck will really be kicking himself for not recognising it. Its a bad angle of view and the place looks a tad different these days and, of course, it's been a good while since he was last in that neighbourhood, so I guess we can make a few allowances...

Veg ... sorry mate, no cupie doll on Porgera as Nr 7. Also, you're thinking of a completely different Feeney. The bloke in the photo, outside the Wantok Club, is one John Feeney - he's in the blue and white striped shirt, standing in front of Chuck.

A heck of a lot of red wine over the years has offed a bit of the grey matter but I'm tempted to say #3 looks a bit like Sopu in the Goilalas

Smile Hear Ye... Hear Ye...

The goat tracks are as follows :

1. Awakumka
2. Emo
3. Keglsugl
4. Kosipe
5. Manari
6. Matkomnai
7. Oksapmin
8. Sim
9. Wonenara
10. Yongai

Do we all remember them now? Hmmm... me neither!

And now for the URL for the complete set of pics sent to me by eggman. I regret that I can't answer any questions on any of them because he's just returned to PNG, after an absence of 22 years, to work for NCA. He didn't take his computer with him, so I don't even know when to expect him back online. However, the photos are all pretty interesting.

Eggman's Album

Eggman's Extra Album

Hope you enjoy them!

Well I think I speak for everyone when I say BRAVO EGGMAN for keeping such a detailed collection.

2 are a mystery to me.

Matkomnai....I'm certain it's called something else these days 'cause I've definatly been there but it wasn't called that!

Gosisi....never heard of it and I've been to every strip in that area...must be long closed.

Awakumka...I must have flown past that place 500 times and wondered whether it was under construction or long abandoned...it's a little south of Heiweini.

Every other one I've been to lots of times....the number I could have named without help....about 15

Chuck.
