To be issued an Instrument Rating (not Day only endorsed) the candidate must have 10 hours night flight experience, including not less than 5 hours as PIC.

So unless the 5 hours PIC was supervised solo circuits then the candidate would probably have a NVFR rating which would usually mean that the Nav requirements are met?

Yes, I had to do supervised solo circuits to get the night approval. But you still need the 10 hours with 2 navex's, blah, blah, in order to fly the aircraft NVFR.

And if you add a flight test to that you get a .....wait for it....NIGHT RATING. same same really
