Smile Another 'First' for Virgin Blue?

Early morning flight DJ204 from BNE to SYD last Tuesday was operated by father/daughter flight deck team.
Anyone know of this combination previously operating a jet aircraft with any Australian airline?

Fantastic I say, congratualtions to the daughter and proud father.

Now Virgin will have to install the latest version of ANDs if my daughters are any examples.

L84Wrk that is unworthy of you.

I thought 2 members of the same family weren't allowed to be working as operating crew on the same aircraft?

Provided the family pet is also not on board, then two members of the same family may operate.

And all the bitter little wannabe failures come out of the woodwork. swh I rather think that comment is in extremely bad taste........commen decency says remove it.

I would have loved to have shared a cockpit with my father before he retired but I was out of the country flying bush.

You all whinge about how unfair QF's system of recruitment is and now DJ as well? So far it seems to have produced a very happy team who are producing the goods for the employer........guess that can't be used as a measure though?

It's a lucky man who has a child who shares his pashion, mine doesn't but that's Ok too.

Chuck.

Father and daughter I can handle. Husband and wife on the flightdeck would be another matter!

Can you imagine the welcome PA;

"Ladies and gentlemen, It's your Captain speaking, welcome aboard flight XXX to Sydney. Assisting me on the flight deck today is my darling wife Sharon. I just want to assure you all that a husband and wife team is quite normal and within our regulations, you have nothing to worry about. We may have had a huge fight last night over some damn sofa she wants to buy but that's ok because the bed in the spare room is quite comfy and I'm feeling well rested. As soon as I can convinced her that I WAS NOT just now flirting with the senior flight attendant, we will be under way. My darling wife will be flying this sector and if she is not too busy nagging me about something else, she will get back to you with some more details once airborne. Thankyou."

Yes, my first comment was a little bitter. No disrespet to the DJ and QF guys and gals.
I must say that way back in the 90's when all were scrounging around for anything to fly, it certainly did seem to me that some lucky souls were struck by a nepotistic lightning bolt and elevated to greatness.
Bitter? No, we all got there in the end.

This is just great!!

If family members can fly together and are on a good interpersonal basis then the chemistry must make for a good flight deck environment. If things are tense I am sure they would have the sense to desynchronise blocks.

When times are good it can only be good and harmonious for the airline.

Go families!!!

It is something inside - and shared it is multiplied.

God - I am sounding like a bloody Mormon.

Best all

Married couples would be great surely, though maybe one should check what they are up to more often than ev. 20 mins.

Certainly make playing around on the overnights a little more difficult, perhaps just a challenge!

Reminds me of a cute story..

Our "Girly" B737 Captain ( a VERY competant pilot (and a COMPLETE spunk!!!)) was flying with one of our more "MATURE" FOS.

An F/A appeared at the cockpit door, and said in a bored voice "Are we there yet?"

Our intrepid Aviatrix turned around and said....

"How many times have I told you not to disturb your father when he's driving!!!"

(Deep sigh remembering good old days!!)
