Sydney Airports Corporation buys Ansett terminal
The Ansett administrators have completed another major asset sale, selling the collapsed airline's terminal facilities at Sydney Airport for $200 million.
The 18-gate terminal, which went through a major redevelopment before the Sydney Olympics, was sold to the Sydney Airports Corporation.
The administrators say they received 15 expressions of interest for the terminal assets and the deal is still subject to Federal Court approval.
One of the joint administrators, Mark Korda, says they are still in negotiations with a number of parties for the sale of Ansett's remaining airport terminal facilities.
Its Canberra domestic terminal facilities were sold last week to Canberra International Airport for an undisclosed sum.

Please forgive me if I'm wrong but isnt that $200m received for the Sydney Terminal roughly the same amount that those two ACTU stooge administrators blew running that carcass of an airline until the Tesna deal supposedly happened?
In other words the $195million received from Air NZ was pissed up against a wall with all creditors/staff the worse off for it.
What a farce!!

It will be interesting to see if they price themselves out of the market and VB expand the "tin shed" and QF knock down Hangar 96 to expand their operations and the ex AN terminal becomes a "white elephant,or maybe a "Mc Donalds"?
Drive - through for A/C maybe?
Beats the A/C tucker!

Friday's AUSTRALIAN, page 2, indicated Qantas was expecting to negtiate in the next few days to move some of its operations to Pier B of the old Ansett terminal.
I think you would also find the airport corp will kick Virgin out of the sheds and force them into a $ per head deal at the terminal. But lets face it if Virgin really do get their act together and are allowed, by the department, to get more aircraft, then they will need more than their current shanty town setup.
50 aircraft infront of one donger - I'd like to see that.
