US type ratings
Hey does anyone know what CASA policy is on US aircraft ratings. ..for instance you don't need a check on each twin that you fly in the US up to 12,500 lbs except turbojet. Does CASA then recognise every single twin flown in the US as a type rating? In that case you could take up a Kingair over here for an hour and go back to OZ with a type rating.
Well the flaw in that must surely be... who is going to let you
You would be DUAL, therefore how could you claim a type endorsement?

The problem with that plan is noone is going to let you fly their King Air without at least some training on type. However dual instruction can also be logged as pilot in command time in the USA so long as you are licensed on the category and class (multi-engine land in this case) and the instructor also gets to log pilot in command.
The FAA doesn't need to mandate training because insurance companies do.. .especially post Sept 11. Insurance rates went up over 100% in some cases.
GOod Luck.

If you have time in any twin under 5,700kg from the states, say Baron, C-310, BE-76 etc etc. You present your log book t the CASA district office and they put a sticker for each type in your logbook.

Sometimes it seems like that is all some people have done! Despite that, it is a bit more complicated.
Email CASA....they will give you a really good idea???(bwahhh)
