Spirit Airlines - Take 6

The TSV refueller told me that they are having a go once more.

Was told this time that aircraft have been purchased ? The website www.spiritairlines.com.au seems to reflect they are starting up this year.....anyone have any more info ?

Question

The Spirit Airlines web site has now moved to www.spiritairlines.com

Can someone let us all know what's happening?

Thumbs up

Can't be a 717 it has a back door! would have to be a MD-80

I say Give them a go more jobs for everyone. Gives Qantas and Virgin Blue a bit of competition and it will fill some gaps left by Ansett.

Tried calling the phone number listed on their website the other day... got put through to some answering maching telling me I could try a mobile number... but nowhere was Spirit Airlines mentioned anywhere in the message.
It doesn't seem very professional or serious... but it'd be did if they did get up...

Something's afoot regarding a new airline. There is an extensive thread about such an airline on the Sydney Airport message board with two board members claiming they have information of a definite start-up with aircraft secured etc. However they claim to be sworn to secrecy which has led to incredibly varied speculation.

No-one even knows if it is a domestic or international carrier, passenger or cargo or what aircraft they plan to use.
