Jumper dumping and C206 time
I am pursuing work as a jump pilot on the east coast but am having trouble finding a C206 to hire so I can get my 10hrs on type. There are a few C182s around but I heard that the C206 covers the C182 however no one seems to be willing to rent out their 206 for solo flight. how do I get these initial hours. If anyone knows where I can do it between Brisbane and Cairns I would love to know.
Also, a minute detail, but can the 10hrs on type include dual time or does it all have to be command time.

The 10 hours I think are a parachute federation requirement, and yes they are in command. There is a reason for owners being selfish with their 206...far to easy to brake a nose gear on a bad landing...that sort of thing.
lastly, if you are considering a jump ship "job"....charge, get paid, dont work for free, set some standards, you are a professional, dont matter if scabs do it for nothing, it will bite you later on otherwise, I promise. It being a "private" (hahaha) operation is VERY relative. Why do others make squillions out of this "private" operation? Think before you jump into it. And have fun.

Hey Dude,
I managed to get a hold of a C210 before I first started meatbombing, which in the eyes of the Australian Parachute Federation, covers ALL of the cessna singles (apart from the taildraggers).
I think that jump flying can be immensely valuable if you're in with the right company, a lot more so than people (employers) give you credit for unfortunately. I was lucky to work for a 'good' one (be careful, there are bad ones) and I had the time of my life - good amounts of flying, learnt heaps and heaps, dropzone parties were the best ever!
Turned out my first job jump flying was better than my second job in the wonderful land of GA, I thought it was supposed to go the other way around. ah well better luck next time.

Hey Dude,
Unfortunately the hours have to be PIC due to the federation. Although the C206 time is hard to find some flying schools have C210 for hire. Yeah it's a bit more costly but it will cover the C206 as well as everything below it. Worth a look if you have no luck with the 206.

If you wanna know more about the way they work it out get onto the white/yellow pages online and find the Australian Parachute Federation. While you are there find a contact email for them and order your own copy (free) of the "Jump Pilot's Manual". They'll post it to you gratis, and the "classes" I wrote of are covered within.

Something to do with trying to keep 300hp in a straight line when someone forgot to mount the tailwheel at the right end..... 
Oh, and about two feet of prop clearance. The 185 is much more of a "get to know you" aeroplane inside though.

Capt L the 210 doesn't cover you for the 185 cause its a tail wheeler and the 185 doesn't cover you for the 210 cause it's wheels go up and down.
Dude~ Grafton Aero Club had a 205 on line there a while ago which might still be available that will cover you for the 206, I don't have the contact details but they are in the phone book.
There's lots of information on here about jumper flying if you want to do a search but the gist of it is get paid, wear a slimpack, and don't drop in imc. Skydiver flying is good experience and has it's own challenges like any other GA operation.

You can do your 10 hrs ICUS. Thats what we do with the twins. Jump flying will teach you some good skills and its good fun. Try not to forget how to fly straight and level though. I have.

I have found a C206 but there might also be a C210 availiable albeit much more expensive. Is it worth the extra or doesn't anyone use a C182RG to drop with? surely no one uses a C172RG either?
