Instructor Qualification
I would like to know if I can convert my airline TIRE (C&T) qual into an instructor rating, I have no desire to work back in Australia apart from teaching my wife to fly and gain here PPL.

JMJ. .. .Don't know about the conversion bit, but a brave lad you are. . .. .mrs gaunty her 2 daughters and the rest of the coven, reckon their broomstick driving licenses entitle them to at least an equal vote on matters operational in any and all types. A PPL as well, I dunno?

CAO 40.1.7.6 does not show any exemptions for your C&T. Perhaps you could approach CASA as to a 'one off' dispensation. The proposed Part 61 will require a IR even for your C&T. Perhaps that may create an opportunity for you.

I doubt that CASA will allow you a basic instructor rating, but good luck. Even with current CASA check and training approvals on a whole varied fleet of GA fixed wing types such as C441, DC3, F27 etc I was unable to get a Grade 3 rating when I enquired a few years ago. Presumably because there is a world of difference teaching or testing a pilot who is already at least at CPL/IR level a few advanced 'tricks' compared with getting an ab initio ready for their first solo.
