Post Best flying school for a new Grade 3 to get hours quickly?

Hey,. .. .I am just under halfway into my Grade 3 instrcutor rating and am seeking advice as to which flying school would allow me to gain the most experience in quickly.. .. .Any advice would be appreciated.

Wrong attitude!!!!. .. .Gain hours quickly, not what we want to hear.. .Gain experience, might accept.. .. .If you have'nt a passion for instructing, leave it alone, better for all involved.

Give up then mate.. .. .The word " QUICKLY " is of somewhat a concern. Students need your time, effort and above all your patience.. .It seems from your post, that you posses none of these qualities, which will affect any of your students, ability to grasp the concept that you are TRYING to teach.. .Students need you to be there.. .Students need your help.. .if you can't understand that then do something else. . .I don't mean to be so harsh , but through losing a very dear friend to flying, I don't like to hear of shortcuts.. .Read through your (PMI) notes again and again until it sinks in, that you have responsibilies and a duty of care............... .good luck

Let me guess, your decision to "go instructing" was not based on your desire to share your (vast?) knowledge with newcomers to flying, but on filling the log book <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="rolleyes.gif" /> . .. .You ever had an instructor who didn't give a toss about you, as long as he could snooze in the RHS and log the hours? . .. .Maybe your post came out differently to how you intended, but I think an attitude change is needed, not only for the sake of the students, but for your own sake.. .. .Although most pilots go into instructing or charter as a stepping block for an airline career, you don't want to have that thought in your head every day. Look at each day as a challenge to be the best in your field, and enjoy the moment.

All of the above exactly right. I thought long and hard about wether or not to do an Instructor Rating. I realized that although I do want to fly for a major airline I would love to share the experience of flying with others and see them get as much out of flying as I do. . .. .Alhough now you may see instructing as an quick hour building exercise rest assured when one of your own students goes up on a flight test you will be more nervous and anxious than they are. . .. .Posts on here can be misunderstood sometimes so I hope this is the case. To answer the question of opportunities try a larger establishment with a contract. China Southern at Jandakot Perth may be of interest. Not sure if you need to be Senior 3 but I believe new instructors are monitored closely before working out at the training establishment 1 hours flying East of Perth.. .. .Alot of hours ( as many as you want, so i have been told) and the experience of teaching foreign pilots. It would be fair to say you will come away a very patient instructor.. .. .Hope everything goes well and you see the rewards in every instructing flight you do.

No matter what flying school you go to, if they give you a job, you cant expect more than 300 - 400 in your first year. In fact, you're doing very well if you can achieve that many as a casual in your first year.. .Where are you doing your training??? Most clubs/ schools that I know of will not hire someone trained at another organisation. It's called looking after your own.. .Goodluck in all your endeavours, and remember, there is nothing quick about Instructing. If you are rushed with your first student in their first lesson, you'll never get another go at it.

I must apologise for giving the wrong impression. I do not want to 'just get hours'. .. .It's just that I have seen at various flying schools, instructors who sit around reading magazines all day because they have no students.. .. .I was just looking for some info on good flying schools where I could spend my time teaching, not waiting.. .. .I want to be an instructor to pass on knowledge and also learn myself, and that will only be achieved by flying with students, and the theory based briefings.. .. .I hope i have clarified myself.

I haven't instructed but I reckon theres a pretty good reason why guys that "sit around reading magazines" don't get rostered any flying. When you're starting out you need to do a bit more than the average Joe to get some flying ie. helping out around the school, answering phones, admin, washing aircraft. Show the guy thats giving you a shot at the tital that you have potential. Not that different to any other job really. Head down arse up and you're value will soon be recognised. In the meantime if you can get a foot in the door somewhere, sit in on all the pre-flight briefings etc that you can. Will probably make it easier for you and more benificial for your students in the long run.. .. .Good luck. .. .Onya <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" />
