Smile KD Network No Support

Can anyone confirm that KD Network (No) Support is still operating as a ghosting operation?. .. .Rumour has it that the airlines operations is now run from the three main ports and central OPS/Crewing is just ghosting what decisions the ports make. Therefore making all the staff at KD Network Support data entry clerks.. .. .Can anybody shed some light on this rumour?. .. .

Not ghosting decisions but a room full of ghosts, due to poor and underqualified management of the department another wave of staff are set to leave.. .. .However I understand that an option to move the function to Virgin Blue under a new interline agreement has been explored and will most likely be implemented.. .. .Using former KD staff now with VB seems logical, particiularly if KD move under the same res system as VB.. .. .Any opinions out there?

I think you have hit the nail on the head with those comments Ex One. . .. .If VB and KD both operate the same Operations and Crewing systems, and an interline agreement is signed, the question must be asked as to 'Why operate two Operation Centre's with the same software and staffing levels when one centre could handle both operations comfortably?' . .. .Some tough decisions will have to be made shortly about the future of ex AN regionals especially if they become linked with VB.. .. .Will we see more staff out of work? Who Knows!. .. . . . . . [ 08 March 2002, 17:48: Message edited by: Ustar ]

Thumbs down

Ustar, why would this be so, although sounds like another win for DJ, are you counting the chickens before they hatch?. .Your information supplied lacks stability and sence, I wish I had some of what you are on! . .. .Like your past post, is this another pathetic thread? Have you heard from BB?. . . . [ 09 March 2002, 00:58: Message edited by: 24 ]

After the AN collapse in September 2001, KD NSC was ghosting the operation while the outports physically ran the ports (eg, making all operational decisions and solving all crewing issues etc).. .. .This procedure was put in place by senior management as they had lost faith in the current structure of the NSC and the poor management of the centre. . .. .I hope for KD’s sake that further staff movements do not occur, as the center will become more vulnerable than it is at present and the NSC may eventually end up back at the ports!. .. .However if KD becomes aligned with VB, I concur with the abovementioned comments that rationalisation may occur as it makes common sense to save dollars where it can be done. It may even mean rationalisation across the whole board? . .. .I will leave this one up to the bean counters.. .. .

From ABC News Online.... .. .Posted: Fri, 15 Mar 2002 8:51 AEDT. .. .Virgin a potential regional airline bidder. .Virgin Blue airlines may be interested in buying regional Ansett subsidiaries Hazelton and Kendall.. .. .Speculation is mounting following the announcement earlier this week that the Patrick Corporation will buy a large stake in Virgin Blue.. .. .Five interested bidders have been identified so far.. .. .Chief executive of the regional airlines association, Bob Mason, is welcoming any moves towards a definite sale of the two airlines.. .. ."We do not know what stage the negotiations are at," Mr Mason said.. .. ."The administrator may have a buyer at the table at the moment, we do not know that.. .. ."Until somebody comes out from the administrators and says exactly where the sale process is at the moment all we can presume is it is going ahead and it may be close to fruition."

From NINE News . .. .Virgin to swoop on regional airlines. .. .Patrick Corp's Chris Corrigan says Virgin Blue was considering regional airline operations, as well as New Zealand as a possible starting point for international flights.. .. .Mr Corrigan, speaking on Business Sunday, said the Virgin Blue management team were looking at the potential of regional airlines.. .. .Australian regional carriers Kendell Airlines, and Hazelton Airlines were caught up in the collapse of their owner Ansett in September, and reportedly have been eyed by Virgin Blue.. .. ."The Virgin team are looking at the regional airlines and working through what - how we would approach that ... it's not something Patrick is pursuing independently," he said.

It looks like the fat lady is about to sing for KD.. .. .The abovementioned posts may have some truth about them, as I’ve heard that once VB purchases KD a lot of departments will become centralised and amalgamated in Brisbane. As much as it would make sense for such processes to be put in place to help cut costs, it will be sad times for KD in the medium term (eg, staff losses, relocation etc).. .. .Very shortly we will see little red Virgin Planes flying into regional Australia and it will all be operated from BrisVegas.. .. .
