Good News Story About Air New Zealand.
Air New Zealand Continues To Be Rated Highly
Wed 17 October 2001
Air New Zealand continues to be rated highly by the travelling public and the travel industry.
Last week, Air New Zealand was voted fifth best major airline in the world by readers of "Wanderlust", the award-winning UK based magazine which is published every two months and has a readership of over 80,000 independent, regular travellers.
Over 1,600 "Wanderlust" readers took part in the survey which is carried out every two years. Readers travelled with 342 airlines, and placed Air New Zealand as the fifth "Top Major Airline", ahead of Qantas, Cathay Pacific and British Airways.
This international rating was preceded by local recognition of Air New Zealand's contribution to tourism (mid September) when the airline was voted Operator of the Year by New Zealand's Inbound Tourism Operators Council (ITOC) for "outstanding service and contribution to the New Zealand tourism industry."
In presenting the award, ITOC President Don Gunn made reference to the fact that in spite of the difficult times for Air New Zealand, the airline had continued to actively promote New Zealand and support the tourism industry, in particular following the demise of Qantas NZ in April.
Air New Zealand's high quality service was also recognised in this years "Conde Nast Traveller Awards" announced in September when the airline was voted the fifth best long haul leisure airline, ahead of rivals Qantas and Cathay Pacific.

The original post was an Air New Zealand press release, so I thought I would check the source.
What they said WAS true, Air NZ WAS in 5th place, both now and in 1999, ahead of Cathay and there is NO mention of Qantas, which I find hard to believe when Sri Lankan and Lan Chile are there?
Also of course the Air NZ press release was not going to say who was number 1, both now and in 1999.
Top Major Airline % (in 1999)
1. Singapore Airlines 94.3 (1st)
2. Emirates 88.4 (3rd)
3. Thai Airways 88.2 (2nd)
4. SAS 84.7 (12th)
5. Air New Zealand 83.7 (5th)
6. Virgin Atlantic 83.0 (6th)
7. Cathay Pacific 83.0 (8th)
8. Sri Lanka Airlines 82.5 (–
9. LanChile 82.3 (–
10. Swissair 81.8 (4th)
Total votes: 3,570; Total airlines: 189; Average score: 74.3%
But those are the facts in this survey, so congratulations.............

Now, now.......
It was posted in the interests of fair and balanced reporting.
Several people from NZ said I only post bad stories about Air NZ, and I said that is because there is only bad news, IF there is ever a good news story I would be happy to post that too. So there you go, this is it.

Bulletproof. Get over it. QF has never met the same standards as ANZ. Have a look at the travel newsgroups and most travellers(the people who matter) would choose ANZ over QF. Well done ANZ. QF might be bigger but it ain't better.

What standards Girt bar, would you like to get into a discussion on accountancy practices? how about employee relations? how about meeting ones commitments? how about managerial accountability? how about just common decency?
Or better still, how about just winding your neck in?

fire wall.
If you have a look at my post and use a little lateral thinking you will see that I was refering to standards from the customers point of view. I know all about employee relations thank you very much. I suggest you take your own advice and pull YOUR neck in.

Air New Zealand Rates Highly in UK Travel Award
Thu 25 October 2001
Air New Zealand was voted fourth best airline by readers of the one of the UK's leading newspapers, the Daily Telegraph, behind Emirates, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic at the annual Daily Telegraph Travel Awards published last Saturday. British Airways was fifth.
Over 25,000 questionnaires were sent out asking for the best and the worst airlines, hotels, cities and tour operators amongst other categories. The poll is the largest of its type involving the British travelling public and is well respected within the travel industry. The survey was carried out before the September 11 attacks.
Roger Poulton, UK/Europe Regional General Manager says the award recognises Air New Zealand's continual high levels of service in a very competitive market place.
"We are delighted that the British travelling public has recognised our solid reputation up in the UK. Our challenge is to maintain our high service standards in the changed environment we now operate in and encourage people to continue to fly with us to visit New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific."
This is the third accolade from the travelling public in recent months - readers of 'Conde Nast Traveller' and independent travellers' magazine 'Wanderlust' both voted Air New Zealand fifth best leisure airline, ahead of major competitors.
Also, at the recent Direct Marketing Association's annual awards for New Zealand, the national carrier won four gold awards in recognition of its excellent one-to-one communication with the travelling public. It was awarded gold in the following categories - Best Customer Retention programme, Best Loyalty/Relationship Programme, Data Management and Most Cost Effective Campaign.
