A friend of mine fom qantas, not Impulse, tells me that on February 8th, there will be an announcement that will secure Impulse's long term viability! He also went on to mention that the announcement may send the usual Impulse slaggers on PPrune running with thier tales between thier legs.........
I am not on anyone's side guys but let the truth be known that the Impulse guys may not dreamers after all!

From the Boeing Website:-
. . . .Good News - The Boeing Company Affirms Commitment to 717 . .
The Boeing Company has affirmed its commitment to the 717 jetliner and has made a business decision to continue production. This decision follows a detailed evaluation by Boeing senior executives of the program's economics and potential market.
Boeing believes the 717 is the best 100-seat airplane for the short-range, high frequency market.
"I am excited that Boeing has shown confidence in the 717," said Jim Phillips, vice president and general manager of the 717 Program and Long Beach Division, where the airplane is assembled. "This is great news for all of us, for our suppliers and for our airline customers worldwide."
"I want to thank our suppliers who have braved tough times, yet continue to work with us and strive for success," he said. "And thanks to our customers, those on board today and those who will be joining the 717 family in the future."
Due to reduced demand for all new commercial airplanes after the events of September 11, however, the 717 will go forward with a lower production rate and revised delivery projections.
Phillips pointed out that it won't be business as usual. "We and our customers are operating in a difficult environment," he said, "so this decision presents us with challenges and opportunities."
Boeing has always believed in the 717, but the 100-passenger market has developed more slowly than expected. But the company is confident that it can produce 717s at a low rate for a few years as the airlines regain their health and get back in this market.
Thus far, Boeing has delivered 90 of the airplanes to customers on four-continents. The 717 has more firm orders than any other new 100-seat airplane.
"The 717 is doing very well in service," Phillips noted. "Our airline customers and their passengers tell us how much they like the airplane. It's a winner.". . . .Hopefully, this will put to rest all the rumours of the imminent demise of the B717.

Regardless of where Impulse has come from and where it is going and whos up who for the rent, the next eastern pilot who ignores my "g'day hows it going" is going to get a F%$^#g mouth full. Regardless of what management has in store for impulse, eastern or who the f$@k else we work for, REMEMBER THIS____ WE ARE ALL EQUAL REGARDLESS OF THE FOG THATs IN YOUR HEAD. WE ARE ALL PILOTS SO LETS START ACTING LIKE PROFESSIONALS and start treating each other with some respect!!!!!!. .YES OR . .NO
