Post ATC- The World Is Watching

Just felt it necessary to point out there are a lot of people in aviation around the world following this industrial battle.. .And it is a disgrace to see a Mr Richard Dudley, professional spin-doctor (or corporate apologist, or media manipulator, or paid liar, depending on your point of view) discrediting the professionals who are the backbone of the organisation he works for(?).. .. .The facts are out there- or if they are not, will be.. .. .Good luck and best wishes, friends. . .. .And don't worry Mr Dudley, the tobacco industry are always looking for people of your ilk.

Thumbs up

Well said, ferris! . .. .We went through all this before, 13 years ago with the then CAA. Blame the professionals at the workface, not the incompetents that profess to manage! . .. .Good luck, guys and gals, we all know who the REAL culprits are and nothing that the Dudleys and spindoctors of this world say can take away the truth of the cause of righteousness of your case.

Thurs "Sydney Morning Herald". .. .Delays, disruption for flyers as air controllers strike. .. .By Darren Goodsir, Transport Editor . .. .Hundreds of domestic and international flights will be seriously delayed today, affecting the travel plans of thousands of passengers, as air traffic controllers stop work in Sydney and Brisbane.. .. .Many flights will be cancelled, with Sydney Airport able to operate only 12 flights an hour between 11am and 4pm. Usually there are 60 to 70 flight movements an hour during this period.. .. .Qantas and Virgin Blue were last night urgently contacting passengers, trying to transfer them to earlier or later flights. However, serious delays are expected to continue throughout the evening.. .. .Qantas said 25 per cent of all domestic flights on trunk routes would be affected, with plans to reschedule 30 domestic flights and cancel 18 services.. .. . The airline said it was confident all passengers booked on flights could fit on earlier or later trips.. .. .The stoppage was called at 3.30pm after another breakdown in talks over wages, conditions, and improved rostering between Airservices Australia and the five unions representing air traffic controllers.. .. .It means all airspace over eastern and northern Australia will have no radar control for five hours.. .. .Given the risks involved if airlines fly in uncontrolled airspace, it is likely overseas trips will be interrupted, with many trips having to be diverted.. .. .The president of the Civil Air Operations Officers Association, Ted Lang, said last night he regretted the flight disruptions, but passenger safety was at risk as a result of management proposals.. .. ."The public do not want tired, stressed or inexperienced air traffic controllers," he said. "This is not a job where you can have a 'bad day', or wake up after your second cup of coffee.. .. ."We cannot accept any erosion in our working conditions, the failure of the employer in their present proposals to address critical issues of stress and fatigue, and current plans to downgrade the professional structure available to new air traffic controllers.". .. .AirServices Australia said it could not agree to the union's demand to call off negotiations in the Industrial Relations Commission, nor its offer merely to guarantee no strike action in the next two weeks. . .. .It wanted the commission to continue its mediation role.. .. .The commission was "fully apprised of all the facts relating to this case and are best positioned to continue to provide assistance to all parties in reaching a conclusion to the current certified agreement negotiations".. .. .The breakdown in the talks comes a week after a similar walkout in Melbourne, which caused only moderate delays.. .. .The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating two alleged mid-air near-misses that occurred during that stoppage, when management took control of the guiding of aircraft take-offs and landings.. .. .A spokesman for Sydney Airport urged all passengers, and visitors to the terminals, to contact affected airlines before leaving home.. .. .The morning influx of international flights was not expected to be affected, but outgoing afternoon flights would be delayed. Emergency aircraft parking facilities were being arranged.. .. ."We have been working hard with airlines and the regulatory authorities to try to minimise the impact of this dispute," the spokesman said. . .. ."But realistically, there will be significant delays.. .. ."Sydney Airport expects to remain open and operational during the stoppage.". .. .The National Airways Contingency Co-ordination Committee, based in Canberra, was last night contacting international operators to try to minimise disruptions.

DONT GIVE IN. .. .And good luck.. .. .The French Revolution was fought on bringing down the aristocracy totally insensitive to the plight of their subjects, the next revolutiom should be the bringing down of those higher levels of the bureacracy and or management suffering the same delusions.. .. .I cant see the logic in paying a management person over $500,000 per year just so he can p!ss off the workers to this point. But then we are talking about Govt

You want logic Gaunty?. .The boss of ASA (who would have to be held responsible for this disgrace), has about 3000 employees and a fairly small budget (by govt. standards), yet earns about 50% MORE than the boss of Community Services overseeing 60,000 employees and a massive budget.
