Up north during the wet
G'day people,
Im a 2000TT'er (only 60 multi) and have the opportunity to go North in a few months.
Is there any activity up there during the wet or is it a waste of time looking ??
Any constructive input would be greatfully appriecated.
Thanks

tas661, it is definitely worth heading north for the wet. most of the roads thru arnhem land are dirt and when it starts raining, they become impassable at river crossings etc. so, the transportation of people and freight relies heavily on aeroplanes.
some companies prefer to hire guys with a few more hours for the wet but that doesn't mean that you wouldn't be able to get a job with 200 odd hours.
also, the wet season work is far better than some of the dry season work going. a lot of dry season work is scenics whereas in the wet, your first job can be charter, which i believe are far better hours to have in the logbook.
come and give it a go. you've gotta be in it to win it!

G'Day ,
I agree with willy, the wet season is misconcieved as being an unpopular time for looking for work. The company I worked for in the NT placed 7 guys at least on just between Nov and March.
As said ,it is a time when the roads are cut, and freight supplies to remote community store's provide loads of flying not to mention general charter.Careful around christmas time , as all is quiet obviously due to Goverment and the Christmas holiday season in general.
As for the flying, I think most beleive it's interesting buzzing around in your 206/210. The weather, strips, Heavy operating weights and Navigation GPS'less make it all a great adventure.
