Southern/Eastern into Tassie in tandem.
Well - Here is a turnuup.Look for Eastern Australia taking over the MEL DPO run before Easter with newly purchased Dash 8 - 300s and Southern retreating to BWT - both on much increased frequency and before Easter. Looks good locally. The downside is that Southern will lose the jet fleet. But to where?? Airlink??

Hey Loco - close but no cigar.
Eastern are apparently going to do Devo, but with a -100 freed up by the lease of some -300s. However the schedule and timeframe are still up in the air.
From the meeting that the GM's had with staff on monday the jets are also staying.

Kiwi - the word I got is that the 146's will be removed from Southern control and either be assimilated into QF mainline or Airlink.
There seems to be a logical if regrettable thinning of the regional managements.
The 300 was definitely mentioned on DPO and 4 services daily to both ports.

I am bemused that Eastwest Loco "knows" that Southern are to lose their jet fleet when Qantas has given no indication that this is to happen. In fact I'm pretty amazed by what a lot of people on this forum apparently 'know'. There is a lot of speculation on this site. Which isn't the same as a rumour.

Source is accurate and inside the operation djembe56. Mentioned this to the local ground handler and much blustering ensued.
It is unfortunately logical that the management and yield control of the QF wholly owned regionals be combined as one as they are duplicated in each operation.
The only exception is Airlink/NJS which is not "owned".

We'll just have to wait and see. At the moment it's speculation. And if QF are to combine its wholly owned subsidiaries, that surely will include Impulse? If Impulse get to keep their jets (which you've described as dogs), then why shouldn't Southern keep theirs? Leases still have a way to go, and that would be the logical time to make a decision, not now when the market place is so fluid.
Wait and See it will be!
The "traditiional" areas of operation for all 3 airlines have for some time now seen the lines go fuzzy. These lines will vanish in time. Sunstate & Eastern have done MEL and Southern go the BNE & SYD. The main part of the plot is to get the most out of the D8 operation. Certainly with over 30 in the fleet by next year there must be some standardization which there is not now.

What will be will be....
some time ago when the earth was green, speculation was that the regionals would be under one AOC by december, i think that should have read the DASH 8 operations of southern sunstate and eastern would be one by maybe early next year.. as for impulse i dont think Q have decided what to do with them in the long term, Bevan has a big job ahead of him to bring them in line with the Q standard...the 146 is a dead duck....look out for some dash 8 400 maybe....

We just dont know good people. Something is afoot - and it means less QF regional management and yeild jobs if I am reading it right. I hope not. Lots of mates there.
