Both the Sunflower school (now a different name) and Air Fiji's Academy have 172's if I'm not mistaken. Not too sure if they let people hire them but call them to find out. Not sure of numbers.

If you can get one out of Nadi (sunflowers) then you could see a fair bit without having to go too far; ie Yasawa's, Coral Coast, Vatulele(??) and Beqa.

VB - you've managed to list all the great things of Fiji in one!! What I'd give for a cold Fiji Bitter. I'd be in for a bash, but given the way things are in GA at the moment i'm not sure if funds would be available <img src="frown.gif" border="0"> Is the FOI you're speaking of Capt JE??

Yes, Kava Konrote was both a serious aviator and a very great guy, the airline and the country are the less for his passing.. .During his funeral in the hangar at Nadi, the regular flight to Sydney departed the terminal, a B747-238, and, with all engines running, every external light ON, stopped on the apron, right outside the open doors of the hangar, and sat there for about 3 minutes, you couldn't hear for the very loud noise, as you could imagine, it was only 50 meters away, but I'm here to tell you, it was extremely moving for all concerned during that 3 minutes, and even with all that noise, I could still hear many people start crying, including those that had somehow managed to resist doing so prior.. .A very fine gentleman indeed, the likes of which are very, very hard to find indeed.. .A very sad day.. .One that I will always remember.

Dash 8 Thrasher - Sunflower and Airfiji both have flying academy's and I'm sure they could help you out with aircraft hire , they'll probably make an instructor go along but I'm sure it would still be some fun. Do some low level beat ups of the villages and hang your wheels in the coconut tree's just like the good old days.

"JE" is the FOI I was talking about - and since Fiji is such a cheap holiday destination, a Fiji Flyers Club would be a great way to get everyone together , tell war stories and get on the Bounty Rum and Fiji bitter, the beer alone is a perfect reason to go there!!

Unfortunatly Sunflower Airlines is on its last legs - down to three aircraft with no real financial backing to get the rest of the fleet back online.

From what I hear the tourists are coming back and Airpac are in full swing again , Air Fiji also seem to be doing ok and the Brasilia is still running around the pacific to Tonga and Tuvalu.

Mabey even a few bowls of Kava could be in order just for the ocasion!!

If you neen and contact numbers for Air Fiji or Sunflower give me a day or two and I'll dig them up.

MOCE!! VINCE
