Thumbs down YPJT Parking

Hi fellow PPs

I used to park on the grass outside the Royal at YPJT but an overseas flying school has taken over the whole area! I know there are three spots on the adjacent grassed area but that is not a lot of space for transient aircraft. Where can one park now?

Here is a novel suggestion.

Why don't you call the airport operator, JAH on 08 9414 9400 and perhaps direct your enquiry to them?

I believe there are spots at the other end of the apron or is that too far from the bar?

Since the airport was privatised, parking spaces are leased to aircraft owners, this has been good because it has mostly stopped the practice of people pinching not only parking spaces, but helping themselves to ropes and pegs as well

Obviously the flying schools have leased the spots nearest to their premises, you can't blame CSWAFC for wanting those leases outside their building.

There is nothing more annyoing than coming back from a flight to find some aeroplane you've never seen before in the space you have signed a lease and paid rent for, and they are using your tie downs too! Of course these people often can't be contacted and asked to move the plane because they are away from home! So they get to park for free, sometimes for weeks on end, we can't move the planes without their permission, and the person who already paid rent for the space has to pay to park elsewhere.

SO...to avoid this, please don't park in a space that is rented to someone, it will have their name painted on the cone or gable marker next to it. ALL the hard spaces are taken. There are a few spare grass spaces behind the runway 24 run-up bay, though many of those are leased now too.

Not_Another_Pot,

I think the only places you will find transient parking these days is the grassed area on the east side of twy Alpha. Where all the old twins go to die

JAH are rumoured to be looking at the situation with a view of creating more parking areas. But if they couldn't build a 4th rwy due to the "environmental impact" of knocking down a few banksias then don't know how they will get on trying to do the same elsewhere to create extra parking space.

NAP...why don't you buy one of those lovely aeroplane sheds located right behind the RACWA?. .Great way of keeping the Trinidad dry.

Icarus, Phoned them and they admitted that it is a problem! Apparently there are a few spare bays behind the 24 run up area and three just down from where I used to park but as the man said, it is an issue. I would have to park there for 200 nights or more per year to warrant renting a bay. Not likely to happen.

Mayor, I would never park in a bay with tyres, ties or reggos on the cones, it’s just not cricket. I too would be pi$$ed off if I got back and found my bay taken up! Why cant JAH move the offending aircraft?

DWR, Hmm!

Islander, Agree, what Perth needs is a northern suburbs airfield. Wanneroo would be an ideal place. Pearce would have to give up some airspace and create a corridor east and west but it would relieve the pressure of JT in fact I bet JT would suffer if another airport was built maybe this is why we only have one over crowded GA airport in Perth!

Dont they run around in the mornings and collect foreign rego's, and then charge an arm and leg for being there. I suspect even from leased bays, therefore earning twice the $$$ from the same parking spot.lets face it, any industry that can charge $320.00 for a $60.00 ford regulator and sleep and then charge you $8.00 to $50.00 for the pleasure of using their runways would not have too much of a problem charging stupid $$$ for a parking spot. Lucky they dont do it with cars aye NAP, or we would both be buggard. .
