Arrow Merger at Essendon Airport.

Today it was announced that two organisations at Essendon Airport will be merging as @ 01-02-02.

I would like to open this topic for discussion. No names of people or organisations should be mentioned. The people who are effected by this agreement know who they are.

From my initial thoughts on this situation and in my opinion this change can only be good. But mine is only one "side" of the story. Opinions from others involved and/or who are aware of the merger are valued, but cheap, personal shots will neither be constructive nor apreciated.

Come on centurions, lets do this constructively................H.

Do we win a prize if we guess who it/they are?
"Today it was anounced...." Where? Why the intrigue?

Disreguard above post, answered by talking to certain sources.

Hun - That kind if attitude not required, this should be a positive joint venture.

You should be able to find out what/who through the right channels, although it's not really classified so I guess we could name the operators here.... but I'll leave that for High Bypass. Surely Woomera we can have an exemption from the first thingy, however it does have the potential to turn into a sh!t canning of one of the two operators, or both. However this is not my view, it should be a very positive thing for all involved.

If it's rumour or news then go for it, thats not advertising and entirely within the rules.

Just as long as it doesn't turn nasty.

If its all secret squirrel business why waste every one's time in posting it. If the merger "was announced", then it must be public knowledge. Why all the pussy footing around?

OK here it is: I have it from well placed sources that as of 1/2/02, Wings Air and Pearson Aviation will be merging into one company called... I think, Air Centre One. I understand that it is a 50/50 joint venture and not one company buying the other out. The fleet/staff will merge and operate out of building 260 (The current Wings site) with Pearson to no longer use their terminal space. Hopefully this will be a very positive thing for all as we will all have access to much larger resources. Now that I have divulged this, please DO NOT let this thread degenerate into a sledging match against either of the companies involved, as this is to be a very positive manuvure. Otherwise you all know what will happen then.....

I recall doing a couple of flights with Wings whilst I was doing my GFPT. Flew their C172 and warriors around for awhile. I then got my PPL at Moorabbin and started to see a couple of the Wings planes down at Moorabbin with ownership changes and started to get worried about their demise. Good to hear they will be continuing on in partnership with Pearson.

1.Will they be combining their fleets and how many aircraft will this give them?
2.Will it just be flight training or charter as well?

Thanks for your posts. I'm glad you've put Buster and ER2nd out of their misery. The wording of your post should insure that this topic continues to be one of positive and constructive discussion.

OzFlight
Pearsons and Wings will be combining their total fleets and not only continue to operate but greatly expand charter. However, at this early stage I think the flight training aspect will be concentrated on.

Can anyone confirm that a Citation will be on line? Also, I heard that other "more sophisticated" types will be put on line aswell. A Piper Meridian was also whispered into my ear, or possibly even a Jetstream. Can anyone confirm this?

P.S. Er2nd and Buster, please don't think my first paragraph here was a critisism of your two posts. Nothing wrong with a little humour.................H.

Highbypass,. . There was a whisper at Wings a while back about putting turbine on the AOC, but no real mention of what the type was to be. But I would think it could be something like a Kingair, again for charter. A J31 I supose wouldn't be out of the question, however I would think that it is a long term project for now. First they have to get everyone together, and combine all the operations. Which is going to be a massive task, when the two combined have over 20 Aircraft and over 15 instructors - let alone other support staff. However can't wait to see the result in action for the first time in a couple of weeks

I can't wait either. About the turbines on the AOC, I know that PA used to operate a Citation and has some other turbines on the AOC aswell, including MU2.

I'm personally looking forward to forming a solid working relationship with the whole team. I just hope we're not priced right out of the market..........again............H.

John,. . No indications as to who will take the roles of CFI and CP or any other management role yet.... I think they may keep the duplicated system for a bit yet till it all gets settled in.

John and BSB.. .At this stage GP will continue with his roll as MD, CP and CFI for Air Center One. Former Wings boss will be a Director, who by the way is going O.S. for a few weeks while the new set up begins. One or two of the senior instructors from former Wings will take on deputy rolls, ie. B.H. as deputy CFI.................H.
