Thumbs up Good News - Hazo Flying

From a small, shaky start last week, Hazo expects to have most of the a/c flying by mid week. Ports include CB, AY, WG, GTH, TW, ARM, ORG, BHI, DU, BNA, LIS, BTH, PKS, MRY and MER.

Projections are positive and most flight staff are expected to be gainfully employed by the end of the week.

That's a hell of a turn around in a couple of weeks!!

BTW I heard a whisper that Max is looking to head up a consortium to buy out the airline. At least there will be no need to repaint anything!!

Good News, if you don't mind the routes that have been ripped off of Kendells. Like SY-CB
This is opportunistic ****.

I normally don't take sides, but this sucks.

Good luck to Hazos, but some morals here please troops. By all means get your own routes up and going, after all you can't have been too stuffed by ANZ, AN only had you for 6 months, and they're not smart enough to stuff you properly in that time,so there must be some good left.

Then again the way KD have selected some of their pilots, especially FOs, the stood down staff must be very pi$$ed off.

Unfortunately the sins of the company are being sufferred by their staff.

The award has had a stand down clause inserted, but has the whole award (seniority) been chucked out?

Bring back Don (Kendell).

From what I've heard, they have reduced services on the regional runs to service CB. What a bunch of opportunistic F$#$S I reckon. But then again, when you see the comments by the MD of Hazo's in the CB times, well, what do you expect? shady deals done by shady people, and to all you hazo's pilots, thanks for shafting your mates at KD.

Talking

I saw the story on the local news the other night. Jeez, I hope they actually carry a few less staff and a few more pax.

Recognised quite a few familiar faces in the cabin

Good luck to all...

Permfo,as if the Hazo pilot's had anything to do with this, wake up tosser!!!!!!
If you want to blame anyone on KD'S position
I'D confront Don and Max L because they bit off more than they could chew with the CRJ'S.

There are no friends in business. The events of the past two weeks should serve as a painful reminder of this old axiom.

If memory serves, both Canberra and Coffs Harbour should have fallen to Hazelton's several years ago, under the terms of commercial agreements existing between Hazelton and Ansett at that time. Ansett instead pulled one of it's usual 'sleight of hand' moves by passing the work to Kendell and introducing a Kendell Sydney base. Ansett's rationale at the time was... 'we are not exiting the route merely passing it to another division of the Ansett Group'. Haa..Haa..!!

Hazelton's administrator needs a 'money pump' and SY-CB is a logical choice. Welcome to the post Ansett reality!! As I'm sure Qantas's Geoff Dixon would tell you "there are no friends in business'.

If people cast their minds back to the 1970's Hazelton were operating flights from Canberra to Melbourne, Orange and Sydney in PA31's.

Hughgogo,

I think Don was out before the CRJ was considered, and to suggest Max L was the instigator, flatters his position greatly. Imagine the Chief Pilot to the board "please please please can I have 12 CRJ' I don't think so.

Hank,

The free market theory was shot to bits, when state and fed governments started to chuck taxpayers money around. Per head of staff and pax numbers previously carried, I think that Hazos scored about 10 times as much money as KD.

As an aside I beleive that the Vic and Fed governments have directed that all of their travel is to be the AN group.

Question 1) Don't they have an existing contractural arrangemnet to use QF

Question 2) If they are wishing to project the image that they are supporting the battler, why wasn't the same directives applied to VB ?

Marauder

So what your saying is that VB wasn't helped by the government and that it's unfair for Hazo's to receive support???

Don't think that's quite correct, what about the QLD government. Peter’s traveling side show has been all over Australia promoting VB.

Plus the 6 million is a loan, which means there is a requirement to pay it back.

Hank,

It might be a loan, but where does an unsecured govt loan stand in the line of creditors ?

First in line.... the Administrator

Second......Staff..But, We need a $10 a ticket levy to guarente that

Third.. The Aust Tax Office

Near the end...Unsecured creditors and loans

If she goes belly up, another $6,000,000 of tax payers money to bail out a foreign company down the gurgler.

Personally I would be more comfortable with 10c levy on a can of coke to bail out the workers from Gate Gourmet

Regardless of who should be doing which runs out of the ex Ansett group, Hazo's need to very quickly cut back on the amount of ports they go to.
They may be trying to pick up the pieces of Ansetts regional customers with government money, but without being linked to someone for on-carriage, I believe they will lose it all very quickly trying to go everywhere.
They struck trouble previously trying to take on Ansett and Qantas, and at this stage even though there is only Qantas, there is not enough pax on most regional runs to support two airlines. I believe even going to CB could prove a mistake for them.
I hope they survive all this, but they need to pick the ports where they have loyal customers and do it quickly otherwise they will not be around for long.
Any other thoughts on this?
