Unhappy Ansett Court case adjourned

from the ninemsn website, aap:

Ansett workers maintain holding pattern

Ansett unions say they are confident the sale of the airline will be finalised by the end of the month despite the deal stalling in the federal court.

A Federal Court application to approve the Ansett sale contract was adjourned in Melbourne after administrators revealed details of the sale were not yet complete.

ACTU secretary Greg Combet said the decision to adjourn the case until Friday was expected and was by no means a setback to the Ansett sale.

He said details about airport leases and a final deal between Ansett administrators and Tesna were likely to be finalised within the next few days.

"I'm as confident as I have ever been now that this sale will complete," Mr Combet told reporters in Sydney.

"I hope that confidence is proven to be well-founded, I think it will be.

"This has to be finished within the next seven to ten days."

Unions are meeting with Ansett staff around the country to brief them on the latest in the Ansett-Tesna deal.

The deal must be finalised by February 28.
