Question How to insert gif images

Hello!

I noticed postings of some smart ppruners which included the non-standard pprune gif smilies. I tried to do the same but I had no luck. Can you share your secret please???

Hi Squawk 7777

Your need to search for Gif images on a web site first.. then right click on them and select properties.

copy the url completely and then select IMG button when posting then paste into IMG window.

Just like any other image. First you have to find one (google search on 'smilies') then copy and upload it somewhere. Some of the sites allowing direct linking, so you can skip the copy. Enclose it in IMG /IMG tags and bingo. Do be aware though that a slow response from whatever server the smilie resides on will result in a slow response on pprune.

Edited to remove the square brackets around the tag examples.

One more question ...

Can you insert animated gifs into web-based emails (yahoo, hotmail etc.)? I played around with yahoo! a little bit, but no luck...

You can list them in a file and copy them from there.

This is good stuff! A newly found toy!

Dunno about web based mails - but try this.

Right click any of the images on this page - select copy.

Open outlook express, and click new mail.

Right click in the message body and select paste.

Hey presto - animated gif's in an email !

Do a search on google and you can find animated gif editors and make your own cartoons !

Angry

Oh Bu99er!

I can't get the gif pictures to be animated in my emails. I am using Outlook 2000 and Word as my email editor. HTML is enabled. Any idea what I am doing wrong? errr... I mean the program of course ...

IFTB

You seem to waste your bullets

Still confused

Sometimes it works and sometimes it comes up as a blue, underlined URL only!!
Why is that??

And why does my signature work on this forum and not in JetBlast?? Well, it did work in preview!!

7777,

Okay, I stand corrected ! Just had a play with Outlook 2000, which I have installed, but dont really use..... And it doesnt work.

Seems you have to use Outlook Express, although i might have a play with 2000 ; see what settings there are....

Lightbulb

IFTB

here's why. Next time you post look at the forum rules below the "submit reply" button. In this forum you'll see

IMG code is ON.

In RP or Jet Blast it is OFF. I guess this is done to save bandwidth.

C'mon mods, do I get a price for this now?

Expedite_climb it works now with Outlook. When you insert the gifs they are not animated however, for the recipient they are.

Thank you for the explanation.
Clever, these little computer systems!
Any hints as to why the signatures still appear in "preview reply" and not in the actual msg?
