Recommendations on multi-function printer
I would like to purchase a good multi-function printer (print, fax, scan, copy) compatible with W2000 Professional, and would greatly appreciate any recommendations.
My price range is no more than 350 Euro (before VAT/IVA).

Lexmark X73
I have a Lexmark X73. It worked fine for printing, and useable with some tweaks to settings for scanning and copying when I first used it. (Didn't try it for faxing.)
Unfortunately I had a lightning strike which blew the PC's modem and all but the printing capability of the Lexmark (not its fault) and even the print facility now only works sometimes.
Price has gone down since I bought mine, to about 100 sterling, say 160 euros. I might get another to restore full capability in place of the damaged one.

The HP K80 is what I have - cost HK$ 3'000 a year ago. Does B&W & Colour Print, Copy, Scan & Fax. That is just under EUR 400
Prices are certainly going down and I think there was a cheaper model and there is probably also a newer one.

Gofer, thank you. I bought a new K80XI about two weeks ago, but it would not work with W2000 for some reason when "word" and "Outlook Express" were installed.
I tried phone calls to Dell and HP for a couple of weeks, and concluded it would not work. I had to debug/reformat my HD twice because of their software - UGH! Glad to hear you have had more luck.
HP blamed it on Microsoft! Dell blamed it on HP. I did not ask Microsoft who they blame it on.
I will look at your list for other ideas.

I've never been a great fan of Lexmark products but their new X75 looks cool and feels good. It does scanning/printing/faxing - although the last bit is via computer software. It has a relatively small footprint too.
You might want to look at canon too - in their bubble jet range (aka inkjet) they have one advantage in that the cartridges are separate for each colour so you waste less when it comes to replacing them. The build quality is good and they are easy to use - good ergonomics.

Sorry to hear that you had trouble with an HP product, we've got about 2000 of them worldwide and very very few problems. The K80 I have did need me to download the latest set of drivers as the support disk it came with was for HK and spoke Chinese at me - it was also outdated against the latest drivers, as it had been cut in Mexico some 3 to 6 months previously .... but that was just a download, so I don't really count that as a major SNAFU.

Someone's already mentioned the X75 - I think it's the update for the X73. Its certainly nicely presented, all in the size of an inkjet printer. Its not a fax ibn its own right though - I guess that would have to be done through software. Its about £120 ish.

Found a printer
I purchased a HP G85XI multi-function printer (print, scan, fax, copy) and it seems to be just what I needed.
It works fine with W2000 Pro. I like having both the flat-bed and with sheet loading capability.

Yeah, the X75 looks very neat, although they have recently brought out the X85 that has double the colour resolution at 4800. (X75 is 2400dpi)
Also check out the Epson CX3200 ... looks great and a very high quoted colour resolution around 5200.... feels better quality than the X75/X85's ... similar footprint ....and is twice as fast.
I tried doing a colour copy at local Staples on the Epson CX3200 and Lexmark X85 .... Epson way quicker, better lcd display functions ... but the Epson copy came out 'wet' and the X85 was dry (on cheap copy paper) Quality on both looked good, maybe paper settings on Epson were wrong, or maybe all Epsons print colour 'wet' ? (took 1 minute or so to dry).
