Blocking video calls
All,
Any suggestions on blocking video calls on my phone? It's a Samsung Galaxy variant using One UI 8.5 and Android version 16.
I keep getting spam video calls and I never call anyone via a video phone call. When I get a call, it's always from an email address rather than a phone number. More often than not, it's from a Gmail address, but I suspect the addresses are spoofed. I've been trying to find a way to block such calls without success. I could also try to disable video calls, but I'm concerned it'll break something I need.
Any ideas or suggestions? Even how banning calls from an email account would help.
Thanks in advance,
Hok

More of a mechanical approach:
I have covered/taped my camera on the laptop. (For no reason except having seeing a photo of Mr. Zuckerberg having done the same on his office computer) Some software seems to be able to use your camera unseen? On the mobile phone I don't care as it sits in the pocket most of the time. Wouldn't you see who is calling first and accept or not?

What application is being used for the video calls? You may be able to block that app from accessing the camera and microphone on your phone (I'm an iOS not Android user, so not sure).

The Google generated suggestion is:
To block an incoming video call, tap the Block option on your screen or block the user directly in apps like Google Meet. To disable native carrier video calling on your device:
- Open your Phone or Dialer app.
- Tap the three vertical dots (Menu) and select Settings.
- Tap Calls or Calling Accounts.
- Select your SIM card and toggle off Video Calling
