I'm not interested in forming :"links" or creating "groups" or lists of favourites, just open the site, select the keyboard option and dial the number, which I may never need to use again, as I have with Skype for over 20 years. ( yes, I have had to occasionally top up my account, but 0800 numbers to the USA from my NZ base were free anyway, on Skype ) I have for long objected to Microsoft forever changing everything, if it wasn't broke why fix it ? This is a disaster, to my US wife and myself at least,

Any suggestions please ?
As others have suggested. I too switched to Viber to connect with landlines, typically banks and tax issues etc as friends and family tend to have WhatsApp and the like. So far Viber has worked OK

krismiler .......... not sure that I fully understand you ! I've used Skype on my laptop for years now, to make overseas calls to banks and other institutions in the USA or UK from New Zealand, usually using an 0800 number for which my Skype account wasn't debited, good job, cos "my call was very important to them" which is why I waited for a long time to tallk to someone.

How can WiFi help me now ? I don't need to create Friends, or Groups but occasionally want to just ring someone, or org. to whom I have never spoken to before. Do you know of a service which operates similar to Skype that I can use. Telegram and Viber (?) have been mentioned but I know nothing about them.
Any advice gratefully received. Thank you.

You know the good thing about landlines, and I mean copper lines not VoiP, You can't tap a copper line over the internet from china, you actually
have to go to where it is and make a connection.

Use MobileVOIP

Any suggestions please ?
You can use MobileVOIP, the App is available for both iPhone and Android. Have used it for years!
