iphone video file coversion?

Hello everyone,

To what file format should I convert an iphone video so it's easily watchable on typical windows browsers? I've been googling but can't find the info.
My PC will play it using VLC only (renamed it to a .mov), Windows media player doesn't like it and I want to send the vid to a friend who only has a basic PC. I can't determine what the iphone format is, tells me nothing in properties, only the filename "39"!!

Try downloading a video converting file - HandBrake then convert all your files to MP4 format which will enable you to play your videos on any computer.

I have some good work experience with a OOH ERP and my words are clearly based on what I felt through such processes in the past.

I'll second the suggestion for Handbrake, see here: https://handbrake.fr/

Another option would be for your friend to download and install VLC player as that will handle almost any file format you can throw at it.

Thanks for that, I'll give Handbrake a go.
The intended recipient is 95 and "is not so good" with computers, so the VLC option is probably the last resort option...

Handbrake did the trick although it still won't play on Windows Media PlayerXP on my machine. I don't think my version supports MP4. Anyway it works on other peoples computers that I sent the file to which is the main thing.

That's odd. Mp4 files will play on almost everything.

Try a fresh download of the player if that's what you want to use.

That link you provided shows MP4 video files are not supported by WMP for XP which explains the problem I had...

It's sorted..

After a bit of searching I learnt that all but the latest Windows Media Players only support .avi video files. Downloaded a converter and it was done in seconds. The video even plays on my ancient XP machine in .avi format..
