Google Translate...

Laptop using Windows 7 and latest Firefox...
A lot of my internet time is spent looking at and diagnosing Spanish newspaper articles, sometimes these are a little heavy going and I use Google Translate to get a rough translation. However many times lately when I put a newspaper url into the translate box I get a 400 error message as follows...

400. That’s an error.
Your client has issued a malformed or illegal request. That’s all we know.

Highlighting then cutting and pasting the relevant text into the translation box works ok but is time consuming in the case of lengthy articles...

żExiste sexismo en la ciencia? | El Independiente de Granada is a case in point... one of the people mentioned in the article is a personal friend.

Seems to be a Firefox thing,,, translate works OK in IE.

Any idea why this is happening? I don't think its a copyright issue because the cut and paste option invariably works...

Hello,

Imho, Google Chrome is better for translation work. Give it a try. I use ff for general surfing and chrome for foreign website.

Good Luck.

If you install the handy "Flagfox" extension you can simply right click the country flag at the RHD end of the address bar, and click "Google Translate". Much quicker than copy/pasting.

Google translate is a bit 'rough and ready' as it does nottraslate but seeks similar phrases.
Translate Dutch, English, German, French, Spanish, and Swedish Words with the Interglot Translation Dictionary works a lot better, IMHO.
I rarely use Spanish but I frequently have to understand and post back in Nederlands, Francais and Deutsch.
