Chromecast to play an MP4.

Hi all. recently got myself a Google Chromecast device to stream to my TV.

I know very little about the thing but have got to the stage were I can stream youtube ect to the TV.

I was hoping I could send MP4 video ect to the TV that I have stored on my hard drive in my desktop PC but I now have a feeling I cant...

I wonder if anybody can tell me if this is possible.

Install Chrome browser on the PC, then install the Google Cast extension. This should get you started. There are other ways of doing it, mostly via third-party extensions.

Got that bit sorted already...just trying to see if I can play an MP4 vid from my PCs own hard drive rather than streaming from a website.

Hope that make sense.

Nick.

No I don't have one but it sounds nifty...

Drag the file into Chrome (or open it from the menu). If it plays, it will cast. If it doesn't play, install something like VLC with its Chrome extension.
