Has anyone with a 3G iPad/iPad mini post IOS 8 without a SIM Card in, managed to find a way to stop the 'no SIM Card installed ' caption appearing repeatedly ?
On IOS7 it appeared when the device was switched on and that was it - now it appears every few minutes (or so it appears).

NRU74,
Yes, its called Airplane Mode.
Oh do shut up with your incessant Apple bashing Ken !
iOS8 has not been recalled. There is no "bug-fest". There may be one or two bugs experienced by a minority of issues.... but the vast majority, myself included have had iOS8 on their phones with no issues.

Stocks Plunge: Apple sinks 3.8% 25th September 2014
The stock market suffered its worse slide in nearly two months Thursday as the Blue Chip Dow industrial average ended down 265 points and Apple spearheaded a sharp drop in technology stocks. Thursday's drop was blamed on a growing backlash against problems consumers are reporting with Apple's latest software updates and new product launches. The value of Apple has sunk $23 billion since iPhone 6.

OFSO,
Just how little do you know about the stock market ?
Look up "day trading", "leveraged short selling" and "algorithmic trading", and you will see why short-term prices on high-volume stocks such as Apple can occasionally whipsaw.
I can assure you that true investors and institutional investors will not have been part of the contributors to the small temporary decline. Apple remain a bullish stock....strong fundamentals, strong balance sheet, strong momentum, strong growth, reasonable value....

.... the trend remains strong, as you can see we're still well above the trend line that started in 2013 ...

Recent short-term price movement coverage by moronic journalists doesn't change the underlying story which is as strong as ever.
The long term story will always win over the short-term noise, as you can see from the analyst recommendations, 33 "strong buy", 5 "buy", 10 "hold" and only 2 saying sell.

Since ios8 it's impossible to upload pics via Tinypic or similar sites, I'm sure Apple will fix the bug shortly but obviously their quality dept isn't up to scratch, poor show IMO considering the vast profits they make.

Im a little perplexed, six weeks ago I bought a 5C after having endured an Android for years and in the settings it says the IOS8 has been downloaded, but not yet installed by myself. Do I go ahead and press the install or should I wait? Or does the download only affect the new 6?

I just backed up my iPhone, and it offered me iOS 8.0.2 (which I declined). Does that mean there have been two "fixes" since iOS8 was released, or is 8.0.2 the official "upgrade from 7" version?

Thanks mixture, [switching it off stops it as well] but I want to use wifi and the caption repeatedly interrupts usage.
Certainly seems possible on my iPhone.....

I "upgraded" to version 8 on my 5C. Ever since that was done I've been busy re-installing all my contacts. It somehow dumped the lot except five random ones, none of which are ones I've used recently.

8.0.2 is basically a roll-up patch consisting of 8.0.1 plus a new software updates (mostly) targeted at iPhone 6 users. Basically 8.0.2 replaces 8.0.1.
However I would still install on older iPhones if it is offered to you. There is no reason to decline it !

Did my upgrade via iTunes and had no such problems with contacts, all my contacts were intact.

Be aware that enabling wifi on an aircraft may well be in breach of the carrier's rules or national rules. Wifi is supposed to be OFF in airplane mode, the idea being to prevent any radiated signal from the phone.

Don't know about their international flights because I've never taken one, but certainly on their domestics, AA over WiFi on most of their routes for those people who wish to pay extortionate rates for laggy satellite connections.

To be clear, the truth is that iPhone 6 / 6+ users got totally shafted by the 8.0.1 update (released by the Apple Maps guy) that left their phones nearly unusable. Luckily Apple reacted very quickly.

Seems all right on my ipad air and on swmbo's ipad 2.
It has slowed down my bt/yahoo mail when accessed via the internet*, but that's all. Otherwise it seems fine.
* I use outlook at home, so don't want the yahoo app.
