EVO...as I said, I never saw any of these pop-ups also, as it has been confirmed in the meantime, there have been some.
DeepC...if you follow the whole thread you will easily spot that there was some kind of confusion about banner ads and pop-ups. My posting was intended to give some clarification. If you feel personally attacked, than here my sincere apology also I do not see that I did anything wrong. Your sarcastic comment has on the other hand triggered my decision to retreat from further suggestions and recommendations.

Anti-banner
The solution is simple - subsidise the site. Then you could have paying PPRuNers with no banners and the cheapskates with -
Tell us boss - how much each if only say 20% would agree for the paying pro version (if it could be done).

Capt Pprune,
I’m running a program called AdSubtract Pro, in the 10 minutes since I read your message, this program shows that I have blocked 9 Ads and 9 Pop-Ups from Pprune.Org, together with 10 cookies from valueclick.com.
I haven’t actually seen the pop-ups as this program filters them out, but I’m using a Middle Eastern ISP, WinXP, IE6.0 and only have Pprune opened.
Hope that this helps.

That said, I'll never go back to yamamoto, mmO2 or whatever b£oody stupid name some designer-stubbled w@nker with a pony tail has dreamed up for BT Cellnet! They allowed their product to be advertised in this manner; notwithstanding the fact that their advert wasn't sanctioned on PPRuNe, they dreamt it up - hence they will now be known as those irritating to$$ers who annoyed loyal PPRuners. There are alternatives to Cellne...., I mean 'OhTwo' - I hope that everyone will use them from now on!

Don't you just love it when BEagle loses his rag. Heaven help us when he lets fly and tells us what he really thinks!
But he's right, and it is amazing that there are some who are so intellectually challenged as to think they will get away with hijacking/piracy of a site like PPRuNe.

Towers,
i guess that it might have something to do with timezone differences, but in the last 10 minutes (0320 utc) I have blocked 15 ads, 1 animation and 11 pop-ups from Pprune.org...... This is according to Adsubtract.Pro.........
Cheers

The following statement was received from ValuClick today:
ValueClick pop-ups were appearing on the PPRuNe site on the morning of Thursday the 23rd May. There was a technical fault, which automatically linked one of the pop-ups for a campaign to certain banners. The pop-up should not have been linked to the banners. It is not our intention to serve pop-up campaigns to sites that do not wish to show them.
We were made aware of the problem through contact with some of our publishers at 09.45 GMT on Thursday. Our technical support team solved the problem by 10.10 GMT. Since then there have been no reports of this problem reoccurring and we have been monitoring our network for any problems.
The PPRuNe website has never requested pop-up banners from us and it is through no fault of theirs that this problem occurred. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused to both the PPRuNe website and to their users.

AOL is the worst isp you can get. It takes over your computer, rewrites the registry and is nearly impossible to remove. It prevents you using other software that it is in competition with and sends AOL information about you and your computer every time you log on (most of them do that in some form, that is why you get pop up ads). It is almost as bad as a virus.

Capt Underpants to the rescue. No more pop ups I hope. Must be an aol thing, Still got them even though I had put a stop on . The one on pprune for the mobile phone was a pain in the butt.
