I kept getting the same mobile phone pop-up as everyone else.

Definitely a pprune based issue!

Fortunately, the well-advised "Pop Up Stopper" freeware is keeping unwanted windows at bay!

I'm getting it too, and it's definitely the only window open... Until the pop-up is running, of course (and it doen't stay running for long, obviously).

It amazes me that the companies paying for them find it cost effective, as I'm very strongly in the camp of those who would never ever buy anything from them. I try to avoid visiting the damn site even.

The only window I have open at the moment is Pprune, I'm accessing the internet through the company LAN, and this bl***y pop-up advert for free text messages or whatever comes up every few seconds. I'm going to try the pop-up stopper download, if that doesn't work I won't be back. Don't mind banner ads, hate pop-ups!!!

Interesting. I haven't had a single pop up from pprune. Only adverts are in the banners.

The freeware worked!!!!! It's merrily flashing away in the system tray at the bottom of the screen - I disabled the sound to avoid irritating the rest of the office!

Well, it wasn't there on the 22nd. and it has appeared today - every time I try to read a thread. It also appeared when I decided to write this. Like many others, PPrune is my home page - it's the first thing I want to read when I log on! As nothing else was opened when I logged on at 07.40 this morning and the dreaded O2 popup appeared, it is either coming from the Freeserve ISP or PPrune. From what everybody else has said it looks like it is PPrune and this annoyance it not helping Danny to keep the books straight.
Thanks Capt. Underpants, I shall be installing your recommendation shortly!

It's definitely coming from PPRuNe, Danny. It pops up every time you change pages (and not otherwise) and has as the window title the URL of whatever PPRuNe page you selected.

Looking into the source code of the popup it comes from oz.valueclick.com.

Looking at the javascript within the pprune page you also have references to

//--></SCRIPT> <SCRIPT LANGUAGE=Javascript src="http://oz.valueclick.com/jsmaster"></SCRIPT>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE=JavaScript><!--
if (ValueLoaded) ValueShowAd();
//--></SCRIPT> <NOSCRIPT>

So it looks as if it is being kicked off by pprune somewhere down the line

For Capt. Pprune's info, I am using plain old MS Internet Explorer 6.0 and was subjected to a mobile phone pop-up ad on every pprune page I selected. They are still trying to attack me but Pop-up stopper as recommended by Cpt underpants has stopped them. First started happening when I logged in this morning (circa 0530Z)

Yep, every page change generates one.

The stopper did not work for me (locked down company machine). Hope they stop soon.

It's coming up on my screen to it's for O2 mobile phones - exceedingly annoying - may stop accessing PPRUNE if this continues...

Mobile adverts?

Is anybody else getting constant adverts for mobile phones each time you change a page on the forums? It is driving me crazy!! How do I turn them off??

If this is a new part of Pprune, I don't like it.

120.4, 'minimize them and it seems to keep them at bay - but I'm no IT expert. What a sad pain they are!
Cheers,
