Visual C Is it needed?

I've been trying to get this 'new' Vaio into shape in the hope it will not melt. I see this in programs and features and checked in my older Vaio. There is not any mention of Visual C+ etc., whatsoever. Can I kill this lot, or are they needed on this faster (supposedly) machine?

I've partitioned the HD and would like to do a clean instal, but I never did get the drivers working on the other Vaio so am a little concerned this may be the same. For example, Nvidia has a sizable presence in the list and frankly, the picture quality, while being a better size, is not that great and have already used Nvidia's software to 'harden' an otherwise wishy-washy picture. With the pressures I have, there is no time to fiddle with things for fun.

LR,

The visual C will have been installed as part of another program. If you delete it, then that program will no longer run.

The lad that sold it to me in Texas has a business selling house insulation. I guess there could have been a CAD-like program he used. I'll wipe the C+ files and see what happens.

There is also Microsoft Word Starter 2010. It seems to be a reduced version of Word, but I'd never heard of it. In conversation, MS tell me my copy of Office has one more seat available. (they're right. Shows what they can see.) but I don't know if I want to install it on this questionable machine yet. Anyone know if they allow seats when one un-installs their products or do you have to phone them and beg?

BTW, MS sent me a copy of W8.1 to help with the Asus issues. They charged me $45 + post for a copy with key. Not a bad compromise.

I would have a look for a folder called "Drivers" or similar, and copy that to a memory stick.

Is it that simple? Drivers found on the disk can be reused? I'd be as surprised as I was delighted.

However, my dismay at other issues is mentioned on my next appeal to the PPRuNe team.

Only if the person who originally installed them was smart enough to put the installers in a directory like CDrivers so they'd be able to find them again later.

Why bother removing them? They take up a minuscule amount of space. Why take the risk of an application failing for a few MB of disk space? It's not as if it's dodgy software.
