Changing Icons on the desktop
A quick one. I have some shortcuts that have been lifted from programmes that are just a representation of the page on the programme. I have, once upon a time, changed these icons to a selection offered by Windows.
I can't find out how to do it again.
I used the search mode and everything but I cannot get there.
What's the trick?

The standard Windows 7 icons are stored in:
C:\Windows\system32\imageres.dll and c:\windows\system32\shell32.dll
Right click the shortcut, Properties, Change Icon.

There are loads of sites out there from where icons can be downloaded. The one I mostly use is Icon Archive - Search 494,890 free icons, desktop icons, download icons, social icons, xp icons, vista icons which has literally thousands of free icons.
I download the ones I like the look of to a folder I've made in my 'Pictures' folder and called (obviously!) 'icons' and I can apply them to, for example items on my 'Favourites' bar in IE by using the method detailed by SD.
