Question Unable To Post a Reply

Seem to be able to start new topic, (like this one), but when I try to reply to a post made on the old BB, circa 30th March, all I get is a blank screen in the browser and a little message bottom left saying 'Done' (I'm using IE6).

Anyone any ideas please? Or have I missed an announcement?

I think it is a bit of HTML code that has come out in the migration to the new software on Pprune. The HTML code is the programming language that is used to write web pages. If you look on the view menu of Internet Explorer and select source, it will show the the code that underlyes the page your looking at.

Yes I know I should get out more

Er.... well, by allowing the pop-ups and banner ads. to show, (previously disabled through Zone Alarm) I can now post a reply so that seems to answer that one!

Yes and I can edit too!!!

Cool

I have found that with the new format I am getting quite a number of timeouts and no connection. When I use the back button I do get back, but unlike the old days, what I have written in the reply section does not miraculously come back.
As a babe in arms and sucking a conspicuously large dummy with regard to the black boxes that allow the magic to happen, what am I doing wrong?

I don't know but the same thing is happening to me.

I am logged in, but when I post a reply, it changes to the log-in screen and the messge is gone!

It has happened 4 times to me today!

I re-booted and that seemed to make it work last time, but I don't know what the answer is. I am now copying the message before posting, so I can at least avoid having to re-write it!

Copying Now........

I invariable use right click and 'open link in new window'. When I do that in Pprune it does not allow the post reply function (don't know why). If you open the topic using the left click, the 'post reply ' is always available.

Capt Prun shed any light on this?

Jesus H christ its taken me a full bloodey 2 days just to get THIS far!

First all I got in this new BB was "Error 502 Bad Gateway" every time I tried to send a reply. After sniffin around someone told me to use IE6 (I NEVER use IE!! The security issues and Mr Gates are 2 good reasons why I dont). But anyway for the sake of simplicitey I downloaded the bloodey thing and sh!t did IT cause problems! Not only didnt it work at all for any internet site but it took over every damn thing on my computer. Spent the day trying to stop it bein my default browser and default viewer for many aplications. IE6 couldnt get through to any site anyway so too damn right I killed the mongrel thing in one swift delete!

Next fr!gging day was spent down-loading Opera 601 to upgrade from my 511 because of all this upgraded java-sh!t that it had that PPRuNe wants now. Yeh it worked on PPRuNe but screwed-up re-loads and refreshes from other sites. So Ive gone back to 511 and to hell with it. I can view PPRuNe with 511 ok with NOT having to S C R O L L sideways. Just I cant post on PPRuNe with it!

That left Nutscrape. Same day I instaled 6.1 to upgrade from 5.79 but had the same results on other sites as I did from the Opera upgrade. So I reinstaled 5.79 and found I can now make posts (9 times out of bloodey 10) but NOW having to S C R O L L S I D E W A Y S to read the posts.

All this wasted me 2 days just because PPRuNe decided give up the old reliable gasoline engine and go nuclear.

So now I have this f*cking rediculus arrangement where I have 2 browsers open: Nutscrape to make posts and Opera to read them after reloading that particular page! Im b*ggered if Im goin to have to put up with the disadvantages from upgraded browsers on other sites just becaus on BB decides to upgrade to new software even when the old money worked perfectley with no problems at all.

Im totaly p!ssed off with the whole scene and Ive wasted enough bloodey time on it alreadey!

Bu**er, 'tis happening to me now too. IE 6.0.2600 on XP/Pro FWIW. Quitting IE and restarting it makes PPRuNe work again, but it is a bit irritating - better than a reboot I guess.

Tried turning NIS2002 AdBlocking off but it makes no difference.
