Google Chrome
Vista Home Premium / I.E.8
Installed Chrome, didn't like it, inhibited the occasional webpage.
Uninstalled and started using I.E. again, but ...... I have a folder on my desktop with frequently visited websites of aviation content, weather, flight planning, Notams etc. and Chrome has grabbed them by putting the Chrome logo on them, even tho' now uninstalled, and now I.E. can't find them.
For now I've reinstalled Chrome and can get at my websites again, but how do I get back to I.E. and release Chromes' iron grip on my URL's ??
I could put the various URL's into the I.E. browser, then creating a shortcut and dragging that into my Aviation folder on the desktop, but bit of a fag, and why the H**l should I have to ?

That would be a "file association" issue. You would need to go to folder options > file types and make sure that anything to do with a web page, like "htm" "html" etc, is changed so it opens with IE

Can you give us a URL of one of the difficult sites? We could then see if it's a general Chrome issue or something else.....
I'll second using SRWare Iron as your browser if you like Chrome.....No privacy issues as in googles Chrome but exactly the same under the bonnet.

Go to your registry ("regedit") and find the Chrome program under "hotkey local machine" -> "software", and delete it. I had a similar problem as you're having with Chrome, with Norton AV. I found Norton was highly invasive, and wanting to still control or block things, after I supposedly removed the program, using the program uninstall.

For bad file associations (or changing file icons) or changing default applications there is nothing better than DefaultProgramsEditor - Default Programs Editor which is free.
